Connect With Pacifica This Week

You might want to check out the 18th Annual Kahuna Kapuna Surf Contest from 8am-5pm on Saturday at Linda Mar Beach.  The event raises funds for environmental causes. There are numerous categories starting for those in the 40-49 age range to the Truly Legendary Kapuna for surfers over 80. Enjoy everyone in the contest on shortboards and longboards. And in case you were wondering, I’ve declared myself to be under the age of 40.

The annual National Night Out is Tuesday, August 1. You can be a part of the national community by hosting a neighborhood gathering and/or turning on your porch light in support of crime prevention effort. If you register by email today, one of Pacifica’s finest will stop by, adding to the partnership between the Police Department and your community. This is a great way to “connect with Pacifica.”

Please let me know if you have comments or questions, and  thank you for wanting to   Connect with Pacifica!

City News
  • National Night Out on August 1st Invites Neighborhood Block Gatherings and Activities Pacifica will be participating in the 34th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1. Always the first Tuesday in August, this national campaign is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Organize a block gathering activity in your neighborhood such as an ice cream social or barbecue, or simply turn on your porch light between 6:30 and 9:00 PM to show neighborhood support and participation in National Night Out. When residents on a block know each other, the neighborhood and the community is safer and stronger. See the Press Release for more information about National Night Out. Register by email to glasgow@pacificapolice.org by July 21, and Pacifica Police will stop by your event to recognize your participation.
