Highlights: Cannabis and Controlled Substances Added to Social Host Ordinance, Pacifica's Special Needs Registry, Junior Olympics
Connect With Pacifica This Week
Greetings!

At the April 9, 2018, City Council meeting, the Council adopted an ordinance to add cannabis and controlled substances to the City’s already existing “Social Host” ordinance for alcohol. This new ordinance is an enforcement tool to help continue the protection of the health, safety, and well-being of its residents, especially those under 21, by discouraging adults from allowing or providing cannabis or controlled substances to minors at a social gathering. I encourage you to become aware of this new law, which can be found here and will go into effect May 9, 2018. Recent state laws which have made recreational cannabis legal to adults are likely to make cannabis more accessible to minors. Therefore, as with alcohol, if you’re an adult responsible for a gathering at which minors are consuming alcohol, cannabis, or other controlled substances, please be aware you can be held liable and cited.

Please let me know if you have comments or questions, and  thank you  for wanting to  Connect with Pacifica !

Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager
