Connect With Pacifica This Week
Greetings!

The City of Pacifica’s annual City Council Reorganization occurred at this week’s City Council meeting. As is tradition, outgoing Mayor Mike O’Neill was presented with an honorary ceremonial gavel for his year as Mayor, and the Council unanimously elected Mayor Pro Tem John Keener as the new Mayor, and Councilwoman Sue Vaterlaus as the new Mayor Pro Tem. Sue Digre, Deirdre Martin, and Mike O’Neill round out the five member City Council headed into 2018.

Monday the City Council and the City organization were saddened to hear about the sudden passing of San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee. The City sent a condolences letter and flowers this week to the Mayor’s Office. Mayor Lee was quick and strong in his support of emergency funding and actions to respond to Pacifica’s recent challenges with winter storm damage. Continuing the theme of Mayors, and with permission from local writer Jean Bartlett, I’d like to share this story about Pacifica’s first Mayor and first permanent City Manager: “ Pacifica Pioneers Recall City’s Early Days ," which was published in the Pacifica Tribune in September, 2015.

Please let me know if you have comments or questions, and  thank you for wanting to  Connect with Pacifica!

Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager
