Connect With Pacifica This Week

You have the opportunity this weekend to enjoy Pacifica’s Coastal Trail on the Pup Walk and Whale Talk.  This is a 1.9 mile leisurely stroll that you can do with your whole family. The walk begins at the Pacifica Community Center at 10:00am this Saturday, July 29. Marine naturalists will teach participants all about whales that frequent our area during this coastside stroll. This event is brought to you by PARCA as part of its annual Devil’s Slide Ride event. Be sure to register to support this good cause.

Here at City Hall, we are hearing increasing complaints about how changes in flight patterns have resulted in aircraft noise in neighborhoods throughout Pacifica negatively affecting our residents. If this issue is affecting you, one way of making your voice heard is to participate in SFO Community Roundtable meetings. The next meeting will be held at Millbrae City Hall on August 2 at 7:00pm.

Please let me know if you have comments or questions, and  thank you for wanting to   Connect with Pacifica!

Your input counts!

City News
  • National Night Out on August 1st Invites Neighborhood Block Gatherings and Activities Pacifica will be participating in the 34th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1. Always the first Tuesday in August, this national campaign is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Organize a block gathering activity in your neighborhood such as an ice cream social or barbecue, or simply turn on your porch light between 6:30 and 9:00 PM to show neighborhood support and participation in National Night Out. When residents on a block know each other, the neighborhood and the community is safer and stronger. See the Press Release for more information about National Night Out.

  • SFO Community Roundtable Meets August 2 to Address Airport Noise Concerns - The SFO Community Roundtable is a voluntary committee that meets regularly to address community impacts from aircraft operations at San Francisco International Airport. The next regular meeting of the SFO Community Roundtable is on August 2 at 7:00pm at Millbrae City Hall, 450 Poplar Avenue, Millbrae. Meetings are open to the public. Click here for the Agenda and more information.

  • Devil’s Slide Ride Bicycle and Trail Run Event Adds Pup Walk and Whale Talk on July 29 - The annual Devil’s Slide Ride bicycle ride and trail run event benefitting PARCA is coming up on July 29. In addition to its bicycle road rides (choose from 37-mile, 61-mile or 104-mile courses) and trail runs (4k, 11k or half-marathon), this year’s event offers a new Pup Walk and Whale Talk at a more leisurely pace. Grab your family and/or your dog(s) on leash for a beautiful oceanside stroll and discover the fascinating world of whales while supporting a great cause. Marine naturalists will be on hand to answer questions and accompany the first group to leave from the Pacifica Community Center at 10am. See the website for more information or register here.

  • Reminder to License Your Pets All dogs in San Mateo County are required to be licensed, and it is recommended that cat owners in Pacifica license their cats as well. Dogs must be licensed by 4 months or age or within 60 days of acquiring the dog or moving to San Mateo County. Licensing your pets is the quickest way to be reunited if they get lost or injured. Licensing is affordable and easy to do online, by phone or in person. See the San Mateo County Animal Licensing webpage for more details.
