A reminder that tomorrow ( Saturday 11/17, 10:00 a.m . at the Council Chambers), the third public meeting regarding the City’s consideration of moving to City Council elections by district will be held and will present and review the draft districting maps that have been developed. Visit www.drawpacifica.org for more information or download the report here . Then on Monday night, 11/19, 6:00 p.m. at the Council Chambers, the Planning Commission will review and provide input on draft sea level rise adaptation policies, report here .  

Please take a moment to sign up for the San Mateo County Alert System, SMC Alert , so you can receive emergency alerts of all kinds directly to your mobile phone. It’s easy to sign up, easy to customize the areas for which you would like to be alerted, and is a priceless tool in time of an emergency. The alerts this week have been very helpful related to air quality warnings from the Camp Fire.

  • November 17 Special Meeting to Consider Transition to District-Based Elections in Pacifica - Similar to hundreds of local governments across California in recent years, a legal challenge based on the California Voting Rights Act is forcing Pacifica to consider moving to a district-based City Council elections system, beginning with the 2020 City Council election. The City is seeking your input in planning for this change and has created a webpage, www.drawpacifica.org, where you can learn more about this process and provide your ideas for district maps. The next public hearing on the districting process and discussion of draft maps will be held on Saturday, November 17 at 10:00am at City Council Chambers, 2212 Beach Boulevard. Click here for the AgendaDraft maps for consideration at this special meeting are now available for public review at http://drawpacifica.org/draft-maps/ Share your thoughts with us about which maps you like or dislike! You can even draw your own revisions to any of the posted Draft Maps and share with us. Future revisions can include revisions aimed at addressing concerns raised by residents.   • Draft Local Coastal Plan (LCP) Policies related to Sea Level Rise Adaptation - Pacifica's Draft LCP Policies (November 2018) have been posted to the sea level rise webpage. The Planning Commission will provide input on the Draft LCP Policies on November 19 (6:00pm at the Pacifica Council Chambers). A link to the staff report is available here.   • Community Meeting on Manor Drive Overcrossing Improvement Project - The City of Pacifica invites you to join us for a community meeting on Tuesday, November 27 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at the Pacifica City Council Chambers (2212 Beach Blvd.) to discuss proposed safety enhancements and improved local traffic circulation and operations in the vicinity of Manor Drive and Milagra Drive related to the Highway 1 / Manor Drive Overcrossing Improvement Project. Please join us – your input matters!   • Sign up for SMC Alert to Stay Alert and Be Prepared - The recent wildfires are a reminder of the importance of staying alert to being informed and prepared for emergencies. SMC ALERT is the primary method of communication the San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services (OES) and its public safety partners use to contact San Mateo County residents during emergencies and critical incidents to ensure timely, accurate information is provided that allows people to be informed and prepared. SMC ALERT provides emergency communications delivered to cellular telephones, electronic mail and text messages in order to inform the community of events that impact them. SMC ALERT is also the primary means of communication by OES, the Pacifica Police Department, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services, to alert people to safe evacuation routes and centers, community points of distribution, major traffic events and any life threatening circumstance.
