Connect With Pacifica This Week

Public service is a noble endeavor and extremely rewarding in service of your local community. You can take that step to increasingly serve Pacifica by applying to serve on the openings we have on four Commissions and Committees. Just click on this link and you can access an application. This simple decision to get involved can help make Pacifica an even better community. I encourage you to apply.

On Monday, August 28 the City Council will be holding a study session on the issue of short term rentals (AirBnB being the biggest name in the business).  This use of housing units is not currently allowed in Pacifica; the City Council will consider a number of possible regulatory considerations to minimize the impact on neighborhoods. The direction provided by the City Council will be important to residential areas in the future. Your views can be heard at the City Council study session, which will begin at 6:00pm.

Please let me know if you have comments or questions, and  thank you for wanting to  Connect with Pacifica!

  • City Council to Hold Study Session on Short Term Rental Regulations - On Monday, August 28 the City Council will hold a Study Session to consider and provide direction on short term rental regulations. These activities are commonly provided in residential accommodation within the City and advertised through online platforms such as Airbnb and VRBO. The accommodation provided can be in multiple forms of rental options, including shared rooms, individual rooms, in-law units or entire homes. The Study Session will include, but not be limited to, discussion of how to tax, license, and regulate these types of uses through zoning and land use policy. The City Council will discuss and hear public input on this important topic and the public will have an opportunity to provide their comments at the study session. See the Agenda and Staff Report for more information. If you are interested in providing input on this item, the Council study session begins at 6:00PM in the Council Chambers, 2212 Beach Blvd. Written comments can be directed to Rob Smith, Assistant Planner at smithr@ci.pacifica.ca.us. • Pacifica State Beach Parking Alert The Crespi Sanitary Sewer Main Repair Project will replace the existing 12” sewer main line that currently runs through the entire Pacifica State Beach Parking Lot (from the Anza Pump Station to the Linda Mar Pump Station). Construction began on August 21, 2017 and is expected to last for 12 weeks. It is important for this project to be completed prior to winter to take advantage of the lower sewer flow. For the duration of construction, some of the parking spaces will be restricted to allow construction crews full access to the work site as well as for public safety. A-Frame Barricades with “No Parking” signs will be placed 72 hours prior to the start of work and remain in place until work is complete. Alternative parking is available at the Crespi parking lot and also at the Linda Mar Park N Ride parking lot. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for your patience and cooperation as we repair this vital City infrastructure. It is always our goal to improve the quality of life of not only our residents, but visitors as well. For more information please visit www.cityofpacifica.org/SewerRepair or call (650) 738-4660.
