Highlights: Health & Wellness Fair, New Pacifica Library Planning Update, Sea Level Rise Planning
Connect With Pacifica This Week
Greetings!

This week once again, as has occurred for me every week since I arrived in Pacifica in early October 2017, I am reminded about and grateful for the passion and commitment to the Pacifica community shown by City employees, residents/volunteers throughout town, small business entrepreneurs, and others who are working tirelessly to make Pacifica a great community. This week and the coming weeks, as shown in the schedule of events below, shines a light on this work -- from Library Advisory Committee members, to newly sworn Police Officers, to City crews handling storm impacts, to volunteers, the public, and City staff working toward Sea Level Rise adaptation solutions, to new businesses, volunteer beautification projects, and community members who received awards from the Chamber of Commerce. Thank you for everyone’s contributions!

Please let me know if you have comments or questions, and  thank you for wanting to  Connect with Pacifica!

Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager

  • New Pacifica Library Planning Update - At the City Council Meeting on Monday, January 22nd, the City Council will consider the Library Advisory Committee’s recommendations in the final summary report “Pacifica Libraries Opportunities.” This report is an outcome of community outreach, regular monthly Library Advisory Committee meetings and planning efforts that included discussions on system strategies (considering a one or two-branch model), site options for a new library facility and operational scenarios to consider to get the most out of our library facilities. Staff will request direction regarding next steps in planning for new Pacifica Library facilities. See the Agenda Staff Report for more information. The “Pacifica Libraries Opportunities” Summary Report is now posted on the City of Pacifica website on the New Library Project webpage at www.cityofpacifica.org/library-project.

  • Sea Level Rise Planning - The City of Pacifica currently experiences coastal erosion, flooding and severe storms along its six mile shoreline that over the years has damaged public and private property. The City is preparing a sea level rise Adaptation Plan that will establish policies to assist property owners (public and private) in planning for and addressing vulnerabilities to sea level rise and promote community resiliency. Public involvement is a crucial part of the process and the City has planned numerous ways for the public to be involved! A public workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, February 13th at 6:00 pm in the City Council Chambers located at 2212 Beach Blvd. In addition, the City has organized Technical and Community Work Groups to assist with this effort. Both of these groups will be meeting Tuesday, January 23rd (2:00pm for the Technical Work Group and 6:00pm for the Community Work Group) at the City Council Chambers. The public also is invited to attend these meetings and provide comments. More information is available at www.cityofpacifica.org/SeaLevelRise.
