Board of Education Update
During the March 5 Board of Education meeting, board members approved the merge of Sun Valley and Shiloh elementary schools.

Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, Sun Valley Elementary will serve students in pre-kindergarten through second grades. Shiloh Elementary will move to the traditional calendar and serve students in third through fifth grades. This alignment will allow the schools to better serve students in their community.

Additionally, during the meeting:

  • Todd Price was sworn into the at-large position vacated by former board member Dennis Rape, who was elected to the Union County Board of Commissioners in November.
  • Director of School Performance Dr. Renee McKinnon provided the board with an update to Strategic Plan Theme B: Enhance Academic Programs to Meet the Needs of All Students. (Click the link below to view her presentation, which begins at the 54:20 mark.)
