FIRST FOOD BANK POP-UP MARKET AT CLC A SUCCESS
According to Feeding America, the level of food insecurity across the 13 counties served by Northern Illinois Food Bank could increase by 70 percent through December. The Food Bank is addressing the growing need with their Pop-Up Markets and partnership with College of Lake County. The first event served more than 1,000 families 50 lbs worth of food each. No identification or proof of need is required.

CLC TRUSTEE AMANDA HOWLAND ELECTED TO ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE TRUSTEES LEADERSHIP
College of Lake County Board of Trustees vice chair, Amanda Howland, was recently elected to a three-year term as director at-large of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT). ACCT is the nation’s largest organization of community college trustees, which represents more than 6,500 trustees at over 1,200 community colleges across the nation. Her involvement will help further develop community college board leadership in Lake County and across the country.

STILL TIME TO ATTEND VIRTUAL MANUFACTURING JOB FAIR
CLC’s annual Manufacturing Job Fair is going virtual this year and there's still time for attendees to sign up for the event tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Employers include: Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited, Smalley Steel Ring Co, AkzoNobel, Eagle Foods, HN Precision, MacLean-Fogg, Medline Industries, Novelis and more.

GRADUATE PURSUES PATHWAY FOR SUCCESSFUL LAW CAREER
Charting his own course in challenging waters is part and parcel of Connor Mallon’s ambition. Mallon, a 2016 CLC graduate from Grayslake, will be attending law school at University of Chicago this fall, ranked as the fourth best law program in the United States -- an opportunity Mallon admits is beyond his wildest dreams as he pursues a law career.

FREE VIRTUAL THEATRE: TWISTED TALES OF POE, THE RADIO PLAY
Once upon a midnight dreary… Four stories from the master of the mysterious and the macabre come together in this live radio-style drama, complete with spine-tingling sound-effects and music. Twisted Tales will recreate Edgar Allan Poe’s classic stories and poems—“The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Cask of Amontillado,” “The Raven” and “The Black Cat.” Be sure to tune in and turn off the lights… if you dare. COLLEGE OF LAKE COUNTY POLICE PROUDLY WEAR PINK PATCHES
You may have noticed flashes of bright pink on CLC police uniforms this past month. It was for the Pink Patch Project; a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association and public safety agencies across the nation. During this first year, CLC police officers, community service officers and telecommunicators wore the patches to stimulate conversation about the importance of early detection and treatment in the ongoing fight against breast cancer.

ILLINOIS SBDC INTERNATIONAL TRADE CENTERS NAMED 2020 EXIM REGIONAL EXPORT PROMOTION PROGRAM MEMBER OF THE YEAR
The college proudly welcomed EXIM chairman Kimberly Reed to campus in celebration of the Illinois Small Business Development Center’s International Trade Centers as 2020 EXIM Regional Export Promotion Program Member of the Year. The Oct. 15 event took place at CLC's Grayslake campus. Kevin Kim, International Trade Specialist, works as a liaison between U.S. EXIM Bank and Illinois SBDC International Trade Centers to lead the REPP. The goal of the program is to provide Illinois small business exporters with the benefit of access to export finance solutions provided by the U.S. EXIM Bank.
