MASS MoCA is partnering with ECCF to hold virtual workshops for artists this Winter and Spring. Next Wednesday, January 18th from 2-4pm, log on to Zoom for Financial Strategies for Artists with Amy Smith, an educator and the Co-Director of Headlong Dance Theater, a Bessie-award winning Philadelphia-based dance theater company. Amy Smith cuts through shame and covers the financial building blocks necessary for surviving a career as a freelancer, including personal finance topics such as debt management in a time of crisis, emergency funds, private and governmental safety nets, tax issues, and how to negotiate with lenders. Local poet Colleen Michaels is hosting a launch party for her new book, and you’re invited! Come down to Chianti’s on Saturday, January 21st to hear her read from Prize Wheel, a full-length collection of poems that skillfully and vividly examines the joy, consolation, luck, and con always in play when she heeds the call to “step right up” in matters of work, family, illness, and intimacy. LIVE MUSIC
Colours in Dub is an instrumental trio heavily rooted in both the traditions and modern embodiments of dub and world music. The drum, bass, and keyboard trio feature a rotating cast of multi-instrumentalists and vocalists, making each live show a unique representation. Hear them at Old Planters this Friday, Saturday the 13th at 7pm.

Backbeat Brewing is hosting a traditional music session with a friendly, mostly Irish playing group of friends gathering to play some music. Come to play or listen on Saturday, January 14th from 10:30am-1:30pm! Backbeat offers good coffees and teas as well as breakfast and other food items. And of course fresh beer brews as well. The musical hosts are Adrienne Howard (fiddle), Henry Yoshimura (guitar), Emily Peterson (concertina), and Dirk Tiede (fiddle and guitar)

On Friday, January 20th, at 7pm Krewe de Groove is back at Old Planters. Come hang with the krewe and enjoy their transcendence of Funk, Soul, Jam, and Roots Rock as Krewe de Groove brings the party.
