Connect with Galt is a biweekly news briefing from the City of Galt intended to provide the citizens of Galt with recent news, updates on key initiatives and projects, along with important dates to be aware of. The City of Galt continues to look for creative ways to share information and engage with residents in the community.
Volunteer at the Galt Senior Resource Center!

The Galt Senior Resource Center is re-opening on Monday, April 4, 2022!

Volunteers are needed to help staff the Galt Senior Resource Center during regular operating hours of Monday - Thursday, 10:00am - 2:00pm.

Volunteering includes providing senior-related information over the phone, in-person or by email. Seniors will be able to visit the center, call-in, inquire on social media, or send an email. Requested volunteer time is two to four hour increments during regular hours of operation.

Registration is now open for Galt Gators Recreational Swim Team!

The Galt Gators Recreational Swim Team is for those who want to improve their swimming skills and participate in swim meets with other recreational swim teams during the swim season. Practices begin on April 18, registration is open to ages 4 - 18.

The cost to register is $177 per swimmer plus a $15 league fee. Swimmer requirements and league details can be found on the City of Galt website.
Who's ready for summer?!

Registration is now open for Swim Lessons at the Gora Aquatic Center!

Swim lessons are offered for all swim levels. Sessions are available in 10-day increments beginning June 13 through August 4. Parent and Child Aquatics is also available for ages 6 months to 3 years. The cost to register is $67 per session. Visit the City of Galt website for details and to register.
Join the Galt Youth Commission or Parks & Recreation Commission Today!

Vacancies exist in both the Galt Youth Commission and Parks & Recreation Commission. The Parks & Recreation Commission makes recommendations to the City Council on policy matters concerning parks and recreation issues. The Galt Youth Commission members serve as youth advocates and champion community service. Any current 8th grade through 11th grade students living within the Galt High School District boundaries are eligible to apply (including home school students). Apply today for the Galt Youth Commission Scholarship for Community Service and Leadership!

The Galt Youth Commission Scholarship is awarded to individuals who exemplify dedication to the community through service.
A total of three $250 scholarships will be awarded to Galt Joint Union High School District seniors who will be enrolled at an accredited two or four year college, university, or vocational/technical school for the 2022-2023 school year.

Applications with required documentation are due in the City Clerk's Office by Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 5:00 pm. Applications can be found online at https://bit.ly/GaltScholarship
Galt Police Department News Release

On Monday, March 28, 2022, at approximately 12:43pm, an unknown adult male walked into the Farmers & Merchants Bank, located at 1200 C St., and demanded money from a teller. The suspect motioned to being armed with a firearm, but no weapon was observed by the bank employees.

The suspect was not able to obtain any cash from the business and fled prior to the arrival of responding officers. Thankfully, no bank employees were injured during the incident.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned adult male, wearing a red/black checkered hat, black face mask, dark jacket, blue pants and possibly black and white shoes.

Detectives are working diligently to identify the suspect and due to the ongoing investigation, no additional information will provided at this time.

Annual Shred Event on April 30th

Protect your identity and do not throw your personal documents in the trash, shred them! Our annual Shred Event will be held on Saturday, April 30 from 7:30am - 11:30am at the Galt Market Grounds.

You can bring up to three standard storage boxes full of documents to shred, or one garbage bag full of documents. You must be a resident of the City of Galt (residing within the City limits). Please bring proof of residency or a utility statement. For more information, please contact the City Clerk’s Office at clerk@cityofgalt.org or 366-7130 option #7.
