Community Invited to

Honor Fallen Officer Harminder Grewal

On August 22, 2021, Galt Police Officers Harminder Grewal and Kapri Herrera were involved in a collision on Highway 99 while on their way to assist with the Caldor Fire in El Dorado County. Tragically, Officer Grewal succumbed to his injuries on August 26, 2021.

On the second anniversary of his death, August 26, 2023, the Galt Police Department will hold a wreath-laying in honor of Harminder Grewal. The public is invited to attend the event being held at noon at the corner of Civic Drive and C Street. Please join us in honoring Officer Grewal, who paid the ultimate sacrifice to help others.

The community is also invited to attend a fundraiser being held on Saturday, August 26th at Back Alley Brewhouse (215 Fourth Street, Galt). The event will begin at 5:00pm. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Harminder Grewal Memorial.

Give Your Input!

Upcoming Public Forum to Discuss Cannabis in Galt

The City of Galt will be hosting a Public Forum on Tuesday, August 22nd, to allow residents another opportunity to provide their input on the topic of cannabis.

The City is moving forward with a Public Engagement Plan to gather feedback from the community regarding commercial cannabis business activities in Galt, including retail sales. We encourage all Galt residents, regardless of their stance on the topic, to attend the forum and share their input.

No decisions have been made regarding commercial cannabis business activities in Galt - this is just an opportunity for City staff to gather input from community members.

Whether a long-time resident or new to our City, everyone’s perspective matters. Let's come together, listen, learn, and engage in respectful dialogue.
