CITY CORNER

Serve on a Redwood City Board, Commission or Committee

The 2026 Board, Commission, and Committee (BCC) recruitment period is now open! BCC members play an important role in civic life by providing input on policies, programs, and projects that impact the community. Members collaborate with City staff and elected officials to offer recommendations on topics ranging from library services, arts and culture, housing, planning and development, and services for older adults.

This year, we are seeking applications to fill 27 vacancies across 10 BCCs, including the Library Board, Arts Commission, Planning Commission and more.

Access the 2026 BCC Application here

Learn more about the scope and role of each BCC and specific membership requirements on our website. Better yet, attend a meeting and see first-hand how BCCs support City efforts. Register for Innovate RWC Speaker Series on April 2

Redwood City has an incredible mix of businesses doing exciting work in life sciences, technology, and research. Many residents may not realize the scale of the work happening right here. Our new speaker series, Innovate RWC, aims to change that! Each quarter, we will introduce the community to local companies and the creative approaches they’re bringing to their industries. We invite you to attend our very first Innovate RWC event, happening on Thursday, April 2nd at Cañada College.

This event will feature Paul Lambert, Co-Founder and CEO of Quilt, a Redwood City-based company that builds all-electric home climate systems combining high-efficiency heat pump technology. The conversation will explore entrepreneurship, climate innovation, and the future of technology, along with insights into career paths and lessons learned along the way.

Innovate RWC events are open to residents, students, professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about innovation and opportunity in Redwood City.
