Block connector networking event

The Block Connectors gathered for a fun networking event to explore grant opportunities, neighbourhood resources and new neighbourhood initiatives.

They also made decorative cutting boards while brainstorming new ideas to support their neighbourhoods.

Block connectors are neighbourhood leaders who value community connections and are committed to building relationships with their neighbours. Learn more about the Block Connector Program!

Spotted: Neighbourhood kindness

Spotted neighbourhood kindness

A neighbour wrote in:

"Kathy and her husband, Arun were the first people we met when we moved to Waterloo nine years ago. When we arrived they came to the door and invited us over for dinner. We had two kids and one on the way. For the next several years they helped in the way it takes a village to raise children.

Later on, Arun volunteered to coach our son's baseball team which was a huge commitment. Kathy lives a busy life, but always makes time for neighbours, especially when it comes to helping them with their garden. Everyone loves to talk with Kathy and she may not know it, but they need her words of wisdom, empathy and neighbourly love. She often has stories of what people are going through and her simple acts of listening and acknowledging everyone who walks by means so much to them."

Outdoor rinks

The Waterloo Public Square skating rink is now open! While this is the city's largest rink, did you know there are over 25 neighbourhood rinks across Waterloo?

All rinks are weather dependent - it needs to be below freezing for several days before rinks are ready, so please be patient as volunteers prepare and respect all closed signage.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers who run the outdoor rinks in their neighbourhoods.
