It is a time to raise public awareness about how common sexual assault is in society, and how communities can work to prevent it from happening. Sexual assault occurs when a person does not consent or cannot consent to engaging in sexual activities. It is important for teenagers to have access to updated information and knowledge of support systems, especially during prom season when there may be a pressure to engage in sexual activities.
