educational campaigns, prevention and health awareness events, and more.

NATIONAL PREVENTION WEEK - May 8-14

National Prevention Week is a national public education platform, led by SAMHSA, which brings together communities and organizations to raise awareness about the importance of substance use prevention and positive mental health.

Last year, Starfish Stella became Connecticut's prevention ambassador. On Saturday, May 14th, you can meet Starfish Stella at Sacred Heart University's Discovery Science Center and Planetarium. The Change the Script Van will be there to share resources, along with other agencies & organizations. Spread the word and join the fun!

In addition to the May 14 event, the Change the Script van will be present at two National Prevention Week Events:

The Prevention Fair on the Danbury Green (or War Memorial) with community prevention partners and resources on May 9
The Greenwich Library in partnership with Greenwich Together on May 11

CHANGE THE SCRIPT RESOURCE VAN

The Change the Script Resource Van will be wrapping up the month of April with a visit to West Hartford for a Community Wellness Fair on the 30th, from 10:30-2:00, at the Charter Oak International Academy.

Alcohol Awareness Month #ProofIsInTheNumbers

#AlcoholAwareness Month

DID YOU KNOW: High-intensity drinking is defined as consuming alcohol at levels that are two or more times the gender-specific binge drinking thresholds. Compared with people who did not binge drink, individuals who drank alcohol at twice the gender-specific binge drinking thresholds were 70 times more likely to have an alcohol-related emergency department (ED) visit, and those who consumed alcohol at 3 times the gender-specific binge thresholds were 93 times more likely to have an alcohol-related ED visit.
