Suicide Prevention is important every day of the year. Suicide Prevention Month allows us to shine a special, encouraging light on this topic that affects us all & send a clear, hopeful message that help is available & suicide can be prevented.

AFSP Out of the Darkness Walks


The Change the Script van staff are honored to be at the walks on the following dates:

OCTOBER 6 - New Haven County Walk, Hamden

October 20 - Capital Area Walk, Hartford

October 26 - Sherwood Island State Park, Westport

The van will be stocked with resources for participants.

CAMS Care provides access to recorded webinars on suicide prevention. Click here to view & register. CAMS, which stands for "The Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality," is an evidence-based approach to treating people suffering from serious thoughts of self-harm.


DMHAS is hosting an in-person screening of the documentary “Moving America’s Soul on Suicide” on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM at the CT Women’s Consortium in Hamden, CT. The film is meant to promote a national dialogue, highlighting the importance of understanding, compassion, and collective action in addressing the suicide crisis.

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH: SEPTEMBER 15 - OCTOBER 15

Latino Culture and Communication


This interactive presentation, hosted by the Northeast and Caribbean ATTC, will inform on Latino cultural nuances that can reframe communication for Hispanic individuals with substance use and/or mental health problems and discuss prevention strategies to support “recuperación” (recovery).
