Now Accepting Applications for the Transportation Leadership Program!

Successful transportation agencies don't just have great employees, they also have great leaders. The Connecticut Technology Transfer Center, in response to requests from local agencies in Connecticut, offers the opportunity for comprehensive leadership training. If you are interested in participating, please complete your application and submit by August 15, 2014. We are looking forward to starting Cohort 3 this Fall.

We are half way through our Spring Public Works Academy and are excited to share the work our participants have been doing! Check out pictures of this year's group on our T2 Center Flickr to see all of their hard work and preview the types of activities included in our Fall Public Works Academy. 
Danbury Hosts Public Works Day For Local Children        
    

This May, to celebrate National Public Works Week, Public Works officials in Danbury invited local children to join the celebration by hosting a Public Works Day. Children  learned about public works in  their town and participated in fun activities including getting to sign a retired snowplow blade.



Middlebury Boy Scout Troops Learn About Public Works     
  
In celebration of Public Works Week, Larry Bonin, from Old Saybrook, traveled to Middlebury to teach Boy Scout Troop 283 about careers in Public Works. Scouts were able to ask questions, check out heavy equipment, and learn more about the important contributions that Public Works professionals make to their communities.

     
2014 Risk Management Achievement  Award Winners Announced  
 
On May 16, 2014, the Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency (CIRMA) announced the winners of their 2014 Risk Management Achievement Awards. Congratulations to three towns who won awards for their commitment to safety for everyone who uses their roadways. They are:

The Town of Waterford - Award for their Public Works Department for developing a safety training initiative.

The Town of Sherman - Award for its support of the Sherman Traffic Safety Work Group.

The Town of EllingtionAward for their Public Works Department for developing a safety training initiative.
 
CONGRATULATIONS! And thank you for your effort in making Connecticut a safer place!
High Visibility Campaign For Connecticut Police Begins In June

Research shows that high-visibility enforcement can reduce drunk driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent. This year there will be a nationwide crackdown from August 13 to September 1, 2014. Join thousands of law enforcement officers, State and local safety advocates and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration with the Products for Enforcement Action Kit and maximize participation in your area.
