Exciting expansion news for one of Smyrna’s top employers: UCB has announced a $2 billion investment to establish its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Gwinnett County. The project is expected to create more than 300 jobs and further strengthen Georgia’s leadership in the life sciences sector, adding to the region’s growing momentum in advanced manufacturing and innovation.

Importantly, UCB’s North American headquarters will remain right here in Smyrna, where the company has been rooted for more than 30 years and continues to support hundreds of local jobs. This expansion reflects not a shift away, but a deepened commitment to Georgia – reinforcing Smyrna and Cobb County’s ongoing role in UCB’s success while opening the door to new opportunities across the state.

24th Annual Smyrna Crawfish Boil on May 2nd and 3rd

The 24th Annual Smyrna Crawfish Boil & Derby Party returns May 2-3, bringing a lively weekend of food, music, and community gathering to Smyrna. Hosted by Atkins Park Tavern, this long-standing event blends Southern tradition with a touch of New Orleans flair, offering residents and visitors alike a chance to come together and enjoy one of the area’s most anticipated springtime celebrations.

Festivities begin Saturday, May 2 with the Cajun Derby - a creative pairing of classic Derby style and Cajun spirit. Attendees are encouraged to don their favorite Derby attire while enjoying fresh Louisiana crawfish, live music, and the excitement of the Kentucky Derby on the big screen. On Sunday, May 3rd the festivities continue with live music and festive drinks.

May's Jonquil City Jog is Just Around the Corner!

This year's Jonquil City Jog is Saturday, May 2nd with registration opening at 7:00 am, the 5K at 8:00 am, the 1-mile at approximately 9:00 am, and the Tot Trot to follow. The race will start at City Hall in Downtown Smyrna. As one of the best community races in the Metro Atlanta area, the Jonquil City Jog consistently draws a great crowd for this flat, fast and family-friendly course. Proceeds benefit Campbell High School Educational Foundation, Inc. and Support Smyrna, two nonprofits that provide financial and community support to Campbell High School and deliver food assistance and expanded services to families, veterans, seniors, students, and others in need across the Smyrna community.

Founded in South Korea - its name meaning “my hometown” - and established in the U.S. in 2006, Bonchon has built a loyal following around its signature crispy chicken and “Crunch Out Loud” experience.
