Council Adopts Downtown Smyrna Redevelopment Plan

The City of Smyrna Council has officially adopted the Downtown Smyrna Redevelopment Plan. This year-long process included nine months of robust community engagement focused on the future of nine acres in the heart of downtown and informed by more than 17,000 Smyrna voices. Led by MKSK, the effort was highly successful: more than 450 people attended three community meetings, 300 residents were engaged at local events, the project website received 12,000 unique visits, and the online survey generated 3,275 responses. Throughout the process, residents shared both their passion for downtown and thoughtful feedback on draft site design concepts. The City will now move forward with an RFQ/RFP process in the coming months.

Smyrna Connects: Coming Spring 2026

This Spring, City of Smyrna will launch Smyrna Connects - a new initiative designed to strengthen our connected community through collaboration and community engagement. A key feature of this initiative will be the formation of the new Smyrna Connects Action Committee (SCAC) - a diverse group of 12 residents providing real-time, objective feedback to the Mayor and City Council. 

The goal is to foster insightful and balanced perspectives that support positive and thoughtful engagement among community members, expand honest dialogue across all Smyrna residents, and strengthen trust between city officials and Smyrna citizens. This program replaces the former Racial Trust Building initiative.

Join the Conversation on Cobb County's Economic Future

Cobb County Economic Development is launching an Economic Development Strategic Plan to strengthen our local economy, support existing businesses, and attract new opportunities.

This collaborative effort brings together Cobb County's Economic Development department with community leaders, business owners and residents - and is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The plan will identify strategic goals that promote job creation, encourage private investment, and ensure Cobb remains a top destination for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Explore Contemporary African American Art with this Arts Council Lecture on February 25th

Explore the dynamic landscape of contemporary African American Art with the Smyrna Arts Council on Thursday, February 25th from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the Smyrna Public Library. This lecture will highlight how artists weave together history, identity, and cultural narratives in visual expressions of art. It is presented by Nicole Webb, a Smyrna Arts Council Board Member.
