Connecting at ELC
for January 17, 2020
Greetings from Pastor Mark
To All Gospel Voices of Emmanuel,

This next Sunday, January 17th will be our observance of Sanctity of Life Sunday with Lutherans for Life and the Miami Valley Women’s Center. Tojuan Minus, the Miami Valley Women’s Center Director at the North Location will be sharing a special Missional Moment.

The “One Another’s” Sermon Series will focus on “Be Kind and Compassionate with One Another,” based on Ephesians 4:25-32. Please take a few moments to read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest these words that remain applicable to our lives so many years after the Apostle Paul wrote them to the Church of Ephesus. While the world seems so occupied with being kind, we believe that biblical kindness can only flow from the work and Word of God in our lives. I believe that kindness and compassion are much needed to address the life issues we face as Christians and the Christian Church.

Please see all links that are provided and give special consideration to this being a Drive Through Holy Communion Sunday for anyone desiring to receive The Lord’s Supper from 10:15-10:45 p.m.

By now you will also know of the call to action from the Pastor and Elders for an Emmanuel 24 Hour Prayer Vigil from Noon, Tuesday, January 19th to Noon, Wednesday, January 20th. Please get you and your family signed up for a 30 minute prayer time slot! Our prayers as Christians and Christian Churches is vitally important for us to be the light and salt needed in our nation. Our prayers include the peaceful transfer of power, protection for all public servants, and for all Christians to be people of prayer and faithfulness to our country and neighbors.

Your Fellow Gospel Voice,
Pastor Mark

Connection Understanding:
"Persons of Peace" - Part 2
In His Word, God presents to us the principle of being alert to those around us that He has already been drawing to Himself. The Spirit of Christ may be providing an opportunity for us to partner with Him in helping them take a "next step" in their knowing and loving Jesus!

How can I recognize "persons of peace"? These people will often:
  • welcome me
  • invite my friendship
  • show curiosity about Jesus
  • ask questions about my life as a follower of Jesus
  • serve or assist me in some ways

Who do I know that may be acting towards me in one or more of these ways?
If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. Luke 10:6

Lutherans for Life "Life Quote"
for 1-17-2021

“Abortion isn’t something happening in another state or county or city. It is happening right in our backyards. And now we know many [who have had abortions] attend churches regularly and are sitting in our church pews looking for answers. May the Lord provide the answers needed to send a message of hope and forgiveness as well as proclaiming abortion to not be in God’s will.” Virginia J. Flo, Minnesota Regional Director & National Conference Director for Lutherans For Life
