A special thank you to all family and friends who helped

celebrate the life of Rev. Lura Cayton;

You can view her service here.

Our Lenten series, Traveling Together is based on the book by Eugene Peterson, "A Long Obedience in the Same Direction." Our clergy staff have written a supplemental daily devotional. We invite you to join us by reserving a paper copy

by emailing Levon Weaver or downloading the PDF version.

This week, we are reading chapter 2 of Peterson's book focused on "repentance." This Sunday, we'll read the transition to Psalm 121.

Beginner Tai Chi Classes now offered at Community.

Begins Wednesday March 19 – May 21 for 10 weeks

at Community.

My name is Renée of SloFlow Tai Chi, and I want to share this magnificent

martial art form as taught to me by Master Teacher Kim Kanzelberger.

My mission is to facilitate slow, intentional movement via Cheng Man-ch'ing's 37

posture T'ai Chi Ch'uan Solo Form.

Tai chi chuan is an ancient system of exercise, meditation, and martial art that unites

mind and body: a therapeutic exercise to cultivate and reeducate the body and

mind, a meditation to cultivate the spirit, a martial art to cultivate harmonious

relationships with others.

This class is taught sequentially, so it is important to attend every class scheduled.

Interested individuals can email Renee at contact@sloflowtaichi.com for details.

Join us this spring as we continue to partner with William Jewell College to provide personal flourishing classes. Read below for more information on the upcoming course offered at Community taught by Rev. Stephen.

You can also visit Jewell's site for more!

Open Minds, Open Hearts, Open Bibles

Rev. Stephen Underwood, Associate Minister, Community Christian Church

For many Christians with LGBTQ+ loved ones, it can be challenging to know how to best love them, given Christianity’s track record of mistreatment towards LGBTQ+ people. Christians may feel ill equipped to advocate for LGBTQ+ people in faith contexts. This course will not only examine the oft-misunderstood “clobber passages” used to condemn LGBTQ+ folks, but will also help Christians to identify how inclusion and liberation for LGBTQ+ people fits within the broader narrative of scripture.
