A Message from our Tzedek Committee

Our committee is in the middle of the Tzedek Summer 2020 and have held more than 50 conversations with members of Mount Zion. We are all enjoying the formation of new relationships and the strengthening of old relationships.

Drive for Neighborhood House

The Mount Zion community raised a total of 2037 pounds of food and household items, as well as $515, for Neighborhood House Food Market. Thank you for all your generosity during these difficult times.

- Spirit of Asia continues to operate out of the Mount Zion Temple kitchen and appreciates the support! Here is a Pick-Up and Delivery Menu for the High Holidays. They are selling Potato Knishes for home baking for $16/dozen. They also have menu items for Break-Fast and have updated the regular menu. - Rosh HaShanah Virtual Cooking Class with Michael Solomonov, James Beard Foundation Award-winning chef. Monday, Sept. 14, 7 pm. Join the St. Paul Jewish Federation for this free, interactive cooking class. RSVP and we will send you the recipes so you can cook along with Chef Solomonov. Register here.
 
- Harry Kay Community Summit featuring the Twin Cities Jewish Population Study Data. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 7 PM. Join the St. Paul Jewish Federation, Minneapolis Jewish Federation and Harry Kay Center for Leadership Excellence for this online summit. You’ll learn more about the 34% growth of the Twin Cities Jewish population and other findings. Register here.

- The Letters Project: Conversing Across Narratives, a project of JCRC of Minnesota and the Dakotas, is a letter-writing contest based on Yossi Klein Halevi’s book, Letters to My Palestinian Neighbor: With an Extensive Epilogue of Palestinian Responses. Enter the high school contest (ages 14-18), the post-high school contest (ages 18-22), or the young adult contest (ages 22-42). There will be three prize winners in each age group! Letters are due by December 1. Details.

- Jewish Loss and Grief TALKING CIRCLE facilitated by Kate Cavett, MA, EOL Doula, LADC. For generations Talking Circles have been a place to share and to witness. Grief is not a problem to be solved. This is not a therapy group. We will meet on Zoom. There is no cost for attending the group. Initial Talking Circle will be September 23 at 8 pm and will continue to meet on Wednesdays, 8 – 9pm.
