Mount Zion Temple loses its last Holocaust survivor, Erwin Farkas

Erwin Farkas, the last Holocaust survivor of Mount Zion Temple in St. Paul, has died. He was 94 years old. Erwin Farkas was only 15 years old when he lied to Nazi guards at the Birkenau concentration camp, which effectively saved his life.

Luminary Havdalah

February 3, 7:00 pm at Levin Park


Luminary Havdalah is a free community-wide gathering outdoors at Levin Park, just east of Lake of the Isles on the evening of Luminary Loppet festival. Jews and friends from around the Twin Cities are invited to come together to sing, celebrate, and bring some light into this special winter’s night. After an elaborate musical Havdalah ceremony, participants can saunter over to Lake of the Isles to enjoy the Loppet (**separate admission required**).

Juventino Meza from Minnesota Interfaith Power and Light will give a summary of proposed legislation for the 2024 session, let us know what's at stake, and how we can advocate for issues we care about. Wednesday January 31, 7:00 - 8:00 pm via Zoom. Register.


- ArtStart will host an International Dance Party with Wearable Art at Mount Zion on February 4, 2:00 pm. The Saint Paul Civic Symphony will then perform for free in Margolis Hall at 3:00 PM! Sponsored by ArtStart and the Saint Paul Civic Symphony, as well as the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Clean Water Land & Legacy Amendment.


- Join us for Klezmer on Ice January 31-February 4; the Twin Cities' second annual wintertime celebration of Eastern European Jewish music and culture.
