Psalm 90 from our weekend's liturgy inspired Janet Sullivan Whitaker to write the song In Every Age with the opening lyrics:

Long before the mountains came to be
And the land and sea and stars of the night,
Through the endless seasons of all time,
You have always been,
You will always be.
In ev'ry age, O God, you have been our refuge.
In ev'ry age, O God, you have been our hope.

You God have always been, You will always be
~whatever the circumstances
~no matter what
~all the time
~every time
~come what may
~in any event
~in any case
~rock solid
~unending
~forever

In ev'ry age, O God, you have been our refuge
~our safety
~our shelter
~our sanctuary
~our harbor
~our hiding place
~our fastness
~our haven
~our oasis
~our security
~our home

What an amazing God!

Sitting with these truths is such good nourishment for the soul.
Find a quiet place, be still and be nourished.

For Reflection

Look over the list of "always "words and phrases -which ones speak to you? Take some time to write them down and reflect on them in your journal. What additional words or phrases of your own would you add to the list?
How do you experience this Divine Presence that has always been?
