Times to Rejoice
Three holidays are celebrated in the month of Tishri - Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah, all holidays of rejoicing. Sukkot celebrates the harvest and is also known as the festival of booths and now has an additional meaning - a time to appreciate the shelter of our homes and our bodies.  Immediately following Sukkot, we observe Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah, a fun-filled day during which we celebrate the completion of the annual reading of the Torah and affirm Torah as one of the pillars on which we build our lives. Celebrating with friends, in the Sukkah and dancing and singing with the Torahs in the sanctuary are customary. This year will be different, however, we can acknowledge the blessings of having our food to eat, a roof over our heads and the Torah to help guide us through this difficult time. We hope that this year you will be able to participate in the special 150 Anniversary Sukkot service and Oneg and find "safe" ways to celebrate, share and rejoice with your families and friends.

Mazel Tov to our Congregation on Celebrating 150 years!

On October 2, which this year is Erev Sukkot,
our congregation turns 150 years old!

Our Rabbis have planned a wonderful Zoom especially for the combined celebration!

Erev Sukkot service and Oneg
6:00-6:30 p.m., Friday, October 2, just 30 minutes.
At 6:45 p.m., everyone will be invited in for 45 minutes of celebration.

It will include 5-6 versions of Psalm 150 (in honor of our 150th) sung by our Music Director, Michelle Cox. A few folks will say just a word or two, and we will share the meaningful messages that YOU created for our tribute video wall! And because it is Zoom, we will get to see each other.

For security purposes, you will need to register for the Zoom Oneg.
Just CLICK HERE so you can be part of our kick-off event for our sesquicentennial celebration!

Simcha Snacks Coming in October!
TTCBJ Sisterhood, Brotherhood and Reaching In/Reaching Out program will collaborate to provide Jewish-themed snacks to our B’nai Jehudah families! Every Friday, from October through December, treats will be delivered to our Congregational families of targeted demographics, including new members and older congregants, along with a note to let them feel our love’. Sounds great, right?

You can help! Bake any of your favorites: Mandel Brot, Rugelach, cookies or strudel, then package them in bags of a dozen. Bake as much as you like, drop off anytime at the Temple OR contact Barbie Rogoff, 816-506-6430 or [email protected] to pick up at your home. Your treats may be frozen for up to 6 weeks, so be sure the snacks are freezer-friendly. Don’t bake? You can still help out with delivery. Donate an hour on select Friday mornings to deliver these treats to our congregants. You’ll be given no more than 5 families, and we’ll make sure they are all in the same zip code for easier delivery.

Excited? So are we! Please use the Sign-up Genius below to volunteer to bake or deliver.
Crown Challahs and Honey add a bit of "normal" to the High Holidays!
A tremendous “Thank You!” to our incredible Congregation for supporting this year’s Sisterhood Challah and Mitzvah Garden Honey Bear fundraiser. We are so very grateful for your generosity and support! Not only did Sisterhood benefit from this event, this year, selling 137 challahs to support Sisterhood, we were blessed to be able to provide 51 challahs, to Jewish families in need, at Jewish Family Services. The big blue bows & gift tags on each challah were so festive and enabled many of you to proudly present a challah as a gift to friends and family members.

The community Mitzvah Garden received $530 in donations through the purchase of 53 honey bears! Honey Bears will help keep the Mitzvah Garden, a source of fresh produce for many in our area, "growing".

A huge thank you to all of the wonderful Sisterhood volunteers who worked behind the scenes to make this year’s Challah & Honey Sale an overwhelming success. A special Todah Rabah to Amanda Bachmuth & Alisa Meireis for their dedication and time spent in making this year's event meaningful, fun & safe for all!

Rosh Hashanah Apples & Honey Brought to You by Sisterhood
It was so nice to see those of you who attended the Drive-Thru Tashlich on Rosh Hashanah! We hope you enjoyed the apples & honey packets, put together by Sisterhood members, and shared with you at the Sisterhood tent at the Drive -Thru. Best wishes for a sweet new year!
Apples from the Heart
Apples have special significance at this time of High Holy Days, as they represent sweetness for the new year ahead. Where we get these apples can be particularly meaningful too. Debbe Trachtman, in remembrance of her late mother Ida Mour ,who passed away in September, wanted to show her appreciation to Sisterhood and its relationship with her mom. So, she brought apples for Sisterhood members to enjoy. These were given from the heart as they were apples grown in Debbe’s own yard. Sisterhood says Todah Rabah to Debbe for the mitzvah of graciously sharing apples in Ida’s memory.
This year become a Sisterhood member! We have some wonderful virtual programming planned and welcome your ideas, too! Reach out to either Marilyn or Kristi if you are new to our community and would like to meet some amazing women.

Thanks for helping Sisterhood support
our Congregation and it's youth!
