This 20 CE contact hour seminar includes elements of NMT’s foundational platform, and the anatomy, physiology, functions and dysfunctions of the shoulder, arm, forearm, and hand. Discussions include carpal tunnel syndrome, frozen shoulder, tennis and golfer’s elbow, common surgeries, rotator cuff injuries, bursitis, tendonitis, and a variety of hand conditions, such as claw hand, Dupuytren’s contracture, and Heberden’s nodes.

A step-by-step therapy protocol will be demonstrated for the shoulder, forearm and hand, and a hands-on trade will be included for all regions. Discussion of trigger point locations and treatment for each muscle of the upper extremity will be a highlighted feature.

A graduate of the Baltimore School of Massage in 1993, Mike has long been renowned for his ability to understand, practice, and convey the concepts of myofascial bodywork to students and colleagues. Additionally, he has studied Mechanical Link I, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, and Visceral Manipulation. For over 10 years Mike has instructed and advised on the curriculum at PMTI. 

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a bodywork modality that works with the central nervous system to support its proper functioning and clear those places in the body that have gotten overwhelmed or restricted. By releasing these restrictions and mitigating overwhelmed areas, we cultivate greater vitality, overall health and wellbeing.

Resident of Berkeley, CA, has a BA (Biology) from Beloit College, WI. She is a certified MLD therapist by the Dr Vodder School International (DVSI) 1996 (formerly VSNA), and is a certified Dr Vodder School MLD teacher (2002). 

MLD® is a systematic series of precise movements that stimulates an increase in the normal functioning of the Lymphatic System. This promotes healthy connective tissue, enhances the body's immune response, relieves pain, and sedates the sympathetic nervous system. Thus it promotes the body's healing ability in many diverse applications, for example: sports injuries, scar tissue, pre and post operative care, as well as chronic inflammatory conditions, such as acne and rosacea, and many more. Ortho-Bionomy®: Working With Extremities

Registered Instructor: Angela Cannon, BA, CMT, Reiki Master, Registered Instructor and Advanced Practitioner of Ortho-Bionomy®. 

Class introduces students to the history, principles and concepts of Ortho-Bionomy®. Learn release techniques for the shoulder girdle, arms (elbow, wrist & hand), as well as legs (femur, knee, ankle & foot). Palpation skills, movements and positions of comfort for the client are demonstrated and practiced.  These techniques are facilitated by stimulating the inherent, self-corrective reflexes of the body and generally provide relief of pain, promote increased ROM, and improve structural alignment. Attention to body mechanics as the work is learned deepens understanding of how Ortho-Bionomy principles can be applied to self-care and as well as care of clients. Learn how to do more – by doing less. All O-B classes taught at PMTI count towards the Society of Ortho-Bionomy® Practitioner Training Program. No pre-requisites unless specified.
