"Connections"
From the Director | 50 Years of MBDA Service, MEDWeek Events & More!
This month I want to highlight three stellar events for all Minority Business Development Agency stakeholders: clients, service and resource providers, and advocates as well as the community of businesses and organizations with whom our our clients do business. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Minority Business Development Agency. The only government agency with the primary mission of promoting growth and competitiveness of the United States' minority owned business. I encourage you to attend the 50th Anniversary Celebration during the National MEDWeek in Washington D.C.

In October we will be celebrating MEDWeek and Supplier Diversity Week in Baltimore. During our local MEDWeek the Center will host an interactive Minority Manufacturing Symposium on October 10. The primary focus of the event will be business development.

Also in October our friends at Made in Baltimore will be hosing the first-annual Sourcing and Supplier Fair. We encourage you to support this event. For more information visit MIB

Finally I want to commend my Atlanta Advanced Manufacturing Center colleague Donna Ennis and her team for hosting the 4th National Minority Manufacturing Summit. It was an excellent event.
This year  MBDA celebrates its 50th year of service to minority businesses,  September 9-13, 2019 in Washington, D.C., close to home for Mid-Atlantic Region MBDA Advanced Manufacturing Center stakeholders. Join us for a spectacular celebration and forum around the theme, "Winning the Future."

Our Mid-Atlantic Region MBDA Advanced Manufacturing Center is joining with center operator, the Baltimore City Mayor's Office of Small, Minority, and Women-Owned Business Development, to sponsor MEDWeek activities October 7 -11, including a minority manufacturing symposium featuring pitch opportunities, a tour of minority business enterprises, and a government opportunities procurement fair. On October 10 we will host a Minority Manufacturing Symposium at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum along with the Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland. For more information visit Baltimore MEDWeek 2019 . For registration click here

Finally, I attended the MBDA National Minority Manufacturing Summit in Atlanta earlier this month and would be remiss if I did not share these takeaways: We are in the 4th Industrial Revolution and Artificial Intelligence is a critical component that Minority Entrepreneurs must engage in as stressed by our National Director, Henry Childs. Amir Ghannad author and leadership coach emphasized our need to adapt our leadership styles for the NEXT Manufacturing Reality ( The Ghannad Group). Our visit to Kia Motors highlighted the intersection of human capital and technological innovation.
