“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11
We often hear or say these words: “I hope you don’t take it personally.” However, I want to challenge that phrase and clearly say , “I hope you do take it personally.” And the it is all of this wonderful and joyful celebration of Christ’s birth. Think about how the birth of Christ affects you as a person and as a child of God.
Jesus came into this world not just for people long ago, but for you and me, for your students and their families. He deeply desires that all of the days leading up to Christmas – all of this Advent journey – to be part of your makeup, your DNA. He deeply desires this for your students – each one of them, the hard to love and the easy to love, the ones that catch on to things right away and the ones who struggle. Please, I urge you, make this very simple yet miraculous Scripture verse of Jesus’ birth come alive in your classrooms whether remote or in person (or both)! “Unto YOU is born…” It is personal! Let this understanding give you new energy granted by the Holy Spirit to increase your confidence and generosity. To God be the glory for making YOU and your students part of His plan!

One Minute: What Are You Waiting For?
At this time of Advent, we focus on waiting. Waiting and preparing for the Christ child. We also prepare ourselves for Christ's return. Now we find ourselves in a stressful time of waiting for the end of this pandemic....waiting for vaccines, waiting for when we can visit family and friends again. What Is Christmas?
Christmas isn’t always the bright and cheery affair found in songs or movies. Can it be merry for a family struggling through unemployment, alienation, and terminal illness? For families working through hurt feelings, strained relationships—even the oncoming death of a loved one—Christmas can be a trying time. In this booklet the reader is reminded that God’s gift of love in Jesus Christ can heal every wound and repair every broken relationship. Read/Download Purchase

The Real St. Nick video: Leader, Legend or Lie By: Rev. Ken Klaus (includes subtitles in English & Spanish) - This single-session Bible study, hosted by the Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus, Speaker Emeritus of The Lutheran Hour, examines a man who, next to Jesus Christ, is the most visible figure during the holidays—St. Nicholas or Santa Claus—as we know him in Western culture. Dating back to the third century, St. Nick is attributed with performing many benevolent and charitable acts of kindness and generosity. Read More

Your teachers are unimaginably stretched as they manage a variety of teaching and learning scenarios in this unprecedented time. The TEC21 Workshop Program boosts the mental and spiritual health of teachers, while equipping them for a new educational frontier. We recently heard this from Joel Wahlers, former principal at St. John’s Lutheran School in Napa, California, now serving as the District Education Executive in the California-Nevada-Hawaii District: “I just wanted to take a quick moment to thank you for TEC21. We have three individuals who have gone through TEC21 (including a facilitator, Kari Perna) who are now our technology coaches for the rest of our staff. Each of our grade-level groups (K-2, 3-5, and 6-8) have one TEC21 teacher helping the others, and I cannot tell you what a blessing that has been in our conversion process to online or virtual teaching and learning!”

2021/2022 cohorts are forming now! Register with your name to save spots for one or more of your teachers. To register, click here. To learn more, click here to download the TEC21 flyer.
Prayer Requests
  • For all of our students, families, and staff during this Advent season. We pray that our hearts and minds are focused on the Christ Child during this busy time!
  • For Rev. Wally Turner, who has been in the hospital in San Diego for five days with an infection in his leg that went into his blood. Wally has served on the Grantparent Mission Project Task Force since its inception and served in the PSD for many years. Wally and his wife, Bev, are hopeful that the doctors can get this under control through the antibiotics. Thank you for your prayers for Wally!
