“Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.” Psalm 147:5

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever.” Psalm 136:1

Love. Isn’t love what Ash Wednesday is all about? What better day to focus on the greatest gift of love ever given—the gift of God’s own Son, Jesus, sent to be our Savior from sin. No means of measure can define God's limitless love. No barrier can hinder Him from pouring out His blessings. He forgives and forgets. He creates and He cleanses. He restores and He rebuilds. He comforts and He carries. He lifts and He loves. He is the God of the second chance.

Lenten Lord, embrace me today within the circle of your abiding love of rescue and redemption. Amen.

"Thanks be to God for His indescribable Gift." 1 Corinthians 9:15

Lenten Devotional
This Lenten Devotional was shared with us by Stella Yau Lok , City Director for LINC Los Angeles . Here's the message from Stella:

Matt Behrens, LINC Bay Area (our LINC sister city) Associate City Director and pastor at Calvary in San Lorenzo, CA, has written a Lenten Devotional for LINC that you are welcome to use for your personal devotion time this Lenten season as well as share with the members/participants in your respective ministries.

Hope this can be helpful for you as we journey with Jesus to the cross and empty tomb.
Annual Accreditation Reports
It is time to begin working on your annual reports for accreditation . You should have received an email regarding the reports earlier this month. All annual reports and evidence need to be uploaded no later than April 15 . Your annual fee should also be postmarked no later than April 15 to avoid a late fee penalty. If you need any assistance, please contact Kristie Flohra at mrs.flohra@christcm.org or Kim Violette at kim.violette@psd-lcms.org .
Research from LHM & Barna Group

From Lutheran Hour Ministries:

  • Research shows that only 27% of U.S. Christians talk about faith 10 times or more in a year.
  • The reality is many people aren’t comfortable having spiritual conversations.

Together we can change that – click here , here , and here for resources!
Colloquy Grant from the PSD
The PSD is pleased to announce a scholarship that will assist PSD Lutheran school teachers participating in the teacher colloquy program . Grants will be distributed until funds are exhausted. Each course will be funded up to $500. Click here for the fillable form and more information.

Hearts for Jesus!
It’s ❤️❤️  February ❤️❤️ …the perfect month to begin participating in the HEARTS FOR JESUS: Mission India project.

The fourth Adventure was released this week and our tour guide, Kevin, visits where Children’s Bible Club leaders are being trained. We also visit a Children’s Bible Club in action and see some of the children who are enjoying their Bible Club experience and hearing about Jesus who loves them.

It’s not too late to join in to see all four adventures and access all of the available resources. Here’s the link:  http://missionindia.org/hearts .

Sign up to receive access to Videos One through Four and all of the other resources . The site is password protected because of the sensitive nature of sharing Jesus in India and persecution of Christians, which is on the rise. To promote this project, we have a promo video, a promo postcard to send home, a promo poster for your classrooms, a letter to parents, chapel offering labels for blank envelopes or coin banks, puzzles, a coloring book, and more! This mission project is for you – early childhood educators, elementary educators and high school educators!

Here are the landing pages for administrators, teachers, and pastors:

This missional project is a great way to strengthen your church/school partnership and connection as you selflessly give out of the abundance with which God has blessed us here in the Pacific Southwest District!

Please make sure to show “Hearts for Jesus” in your contribution correspondence or check so that it is separate from the contribution from your congregation for the Mission India district mission project.

If you have any questions, please contact me at rachel.klitzing@psd-lcms.org or Ellen Pratt at ellen.pratt@psd-lcms.org. Thank you for getting involved!
New Resources Available
We want to draw your attention to two newly updated resources on our website, the Commissioned Minister Call Manual and the 2020 updated Salary Guidelines. The Call Manual is a detailed guide that will walk a Call Committee fully through the process of gathering names, reviewing, interviewing, and extending a Call to a Commissioned Minister for your congregation. The 2020 updated Salary Guidelines are a full web page of information and can be used as you plan to care for all workers at your school and church. The page is on the Pacific Southwest District website, but there is a direct link in the Resources section of the School Ministries website. Please take some time to review both of these new resources.
Prayer Requests
Each week, prayers of thanksgiving and prayers for teachers, administrators, support staff, pastors, students, and families of the Lutheran schools, early childhood centers, and churches of the Pacific Southwest District are listed.
