Learn More About UV Rays and How to Protect Yourself
|
|
On average the DFW area gets 232 sunny days annually. For those of us that spend time outdoors, this equates to a lot of exposure to UV (Ultraviolet) Radiation and increases our risk of skin cancer and other conditions of the skin.
Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. Most cases of melanoma, the deadliest kind of skin cancer, are caused by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light.
However, there is good news, it can be prevented.

Five Ways to Bust Your Stress
|
No one wants to feel stressed out, but it happens. Here is a list of stressbusters to help you keep your stress at bay.
Laugh.
Spend some time with someone who makes you laugh. Laughter can lift your spirits AND decrease your stress. Remember, your social connections can increase longevity.
Unplug.
Studies have shown that texts, news alerts, social media - things we are connected to 24/7 - make us more stressed and anxious than ever before. Set aside some time each night to stay off the phone, laptop or tablet.
Meditate.
People struggle with meditation because they think it’s hard. There are numerous proven benefits to meditating, like reduced heart rate, reduced blood pressure, lessened anxiety and more. Try an easy 1-minute meditation to start.
- Breathe in for 5 seconds
- Hold your breath for 5 seconds
- Exhale for 5 seconds
- Hold for 5 seconds
- Repeat. Set a timer for at least one minute (or longer if you have time.)
|
|
Soothe it out.
Nothing takes the edge of off a stressful day like doing something you enjoy - listening to soothing music, taking a bubble bath, coloring, drawing, or sewing. Take time to do whatever your favorite hobby may be. Calming activities are the perfect antidote to stress. Which one is your favorite?
Exercise.
You don’t have to haul tractor tires around or perform 200 squats for it to be considered exercise. Just lace up your sneakers and go for a walk
.
You will feel better afterwards!
What stressbusters do you turn to?
