I hope you saw our note last week that the BCC Board of Directors has named Norma Mercado as BCC's new Executive Director. Norma will begin in her role this month, and our team is thrilled to welcome her to the organization.
I love seeing how our BCC team is working with each of you on specific projects to make Bastrop County a better place to work, play, pray, and learn.
We've got new initiatives in the works and impressive work being done every day by our more established coalitions. Every BCC-supported coalition is connected to (at least!) one Social Determinant of Health. As we see how many SDOH connections they truly have, we see the interconnectivity across coalitions and how we can all strengthen our work when we know what the others are doing. That is one of our goals with this monthly newsletter: to keep our partners informed so they can cross-collaborate.
As we move forward, we remain steadfast in our dedication to the well-being of our community, and I am confident that our collective efforts will continue to yield positive outcomes. Together, we can make a real difference in Bastrop County. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our mission.
In work together,
Debbie Bresette

St. David's Foundation Donates Gift Cards
The Nourish Coalition would like to share a big thank you to St. David’s Foundation for a generous donation of gift cards to be distributed to organizations conducting food service work! Since September, we have distributed gift cards to food pantries and other food service entities in Bastrop, Caldwell, and Williamson Counties. We appreciate St. David's Foundation's support in continuing the good work these folks are doing to be able to strengthen our relationship with them. As we continue to build our capacity, we are excited to support and collaborate with these folks.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
🩷 "Pinky Promise" is a promise that saves lives! 🩷
We're celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month all month long with special events across Bastrop County.
Bastrop County’s Breast Health Initiative is on a mission to ensure that every woman in our community gets screened and receives the care they need.
For women over 40, an annual mammogram is recommended.
For women under 40, knowing your family history and promptly seeing your doctor if you notice any abnormalities is crucial. And if you're uninsured or underinsured, there are resources available to help you access free mammograms and more.
If you or someone you know needs assistance navigating the screening process or post-diagnosis, call Lydia Perez at 512-392-1161 ext. 322.
Take control of your health and make a 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 to get screened today.
Together, we can make a real difference in the fight against breast cancer. 🩷
