Hello CCSM Friends,
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful fall weather.
There are several things on the calendar to look forward to in the coming weeks. While things are not exactly as they have been in years past there are many members giving their time, talents and treasure for the sake of the CCSM community and its outreach.
Let’s celebrate what is happening! Invite your friends and be proud of your church.
Please consider donating an item for Auction, easy to be a part of! The deadline to list an item has been extended to October 23. Click HERE for the link, and find more details below. Bidding starts on October 30!
Stewardship kick-off October 30. Emily Beach brings her energy and talent to the service.
Ready for some great Halloween music? Angela Kraft-Cross gives a spooky concert on Saturday, October 28, 8pm.
I’m excited for these upcoming events! I hope you are too. Scroll down for some more events and ways to enjoy and engage this church community.
On the business side of CCSM, the Board, Search Committee, Staff and Ministry Leads are working diligently to re-establish connections and pick up where we left off pre-pandemic. There are many volunteers giving their time and thoughts as to how best to grow CCSM in many ways. When you see and hear of anyone giving their time and care for this sacred community, thank them, offer grace, encouragement and patience as we navigate the new normal.
"I learned this, at least, by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” —Henry David Thoreau
Peace and grace,
Rev. Melissa

You may be inspired to redecorate your home with a few fun pieces of creative furniture.
Remember to bring your own lunch: beverages and dessert are provided.
Please RSVP to Susan Duty at susanjd52@gmail.com. Tables will be set up for 5 - 6 persons to be Covid safe. Masks are suggested except when eating.

Youth and Family Events
As usual, during the service on Sundays, Lily and some youth volunteers engage our pre-K crowd in some fun playtime in the nursery, and Shannon and Elaine share a Bible story (through Godly Play) and then invite our K-5th grade crowd to reflect, create, build, share, and serve the community in response to the story (in the Memorial Garden). We're experimenting with a multi-age group this year as we've found that sometimes older kids prefer to be with their younger siblings/friends (and vice versa!) and this way we have maximum flexibility so that kids can choose what they would like to do to respond to the Bible story based on their interests, not merely their age!
Our next 60 Minutes for high schoolers will be this coming Sunday, October 23.
Sunday, October 23: 10:30am - 60 Minutes conversation for high school youth led by Mike (he/him) and Holly (she/her). Each month, high schoolers choose a discussion topic—this month the focus will be abortion laws (as chosen by the youth last month!). Stay after for lunch and social time with Sheryl (after the sandwich making - see next!).
Sunday, October 23: 11:30am - Youth can help make sandwiches for Open Cathedral and earn volunteer hours.
Saturday, October 29 at 7pm: Free family movie night at Memorial Park! Come out to watch Jurassic World Dominion under the stars. Let me know if you plan to go so I can connect you to other CCSM families.
Sunday, October 30 at 10:30am: Wear your Halloween Costume to church day! Lots of special fun and treats as well. Come out to see costumes and have some special fun!
Saturday, November 5 - Youth sleepover with other UCC youth in Danville!
Sunday, November 6: 11:45am - CCSM Pizza Play Date! Families with kids of any age are invited to join us in the small playground outside Kloss Hall for pizza and games! Older kids especially are invited to bring a board or card game to play as well. Pizza and drinks will be provided, please bring a dessert to share if you'd like.
Friday, February 24 - Sunday Feb 26 - Mid-winter youth camp in Cambria for those in grades 7-12.

FIRST SUNDAYS OF THE MONTH ARE COMMUNION SUNDAYS
If there’s a way you can be in person on the first Sundays of the month, communion is a meaningful time to be together.
If you’re not able to be with us in person, you’re invited to share in communion while online with us from wherever you are; just have some bread and juice ready and you can participate with us that way.

Pray for Ukraine Every Tuesday at 7:30pm
CCSM held a powerful live Prayer Ritual for Ukraine on March 6th. We have decided to premier this ritual ONLINE every Tuesday until the war ends. We hope you will join us online weekly to continue our prayers and heal our hearts. These are challenging times and this offering is a way to bring our community together and magnify our prayers.
Please share this link with your friends and family so we can extend this offering to as many people as possible.
