April is World Autism Awareness Month
and Autism Acceptance Month in Colorado

At DFX, we celebrate and support neurodiversity every day. In April, we intentionally shine a light on autism in recognition of Autism Acceptance Month. Curious about autism acceptance and awareness? You can learn more about our selection of marking Autism Acceptance Month in this article.

Here in Colorado, Governor Jared Polis signed a proclamation designating April as Autism Acceptance Month. We thank Governor Polis for elevating the strengths, rights, and support needs of autistic people, and for recognizing the importance of ensuring access to supports that truly fit so neurodivergent individuals can fully engage in our communities.

We especially want to highlight the sections which say:

"Whereas many individuals and families living with Autism know that acceptance is often one of the biggest barriers to finding and developing a strong support system." and

"promoting education and understanding can foster acceptance, inspire inclusion, and support systems-wide change to advance full participation in society..."

Autistic people bring unique perspectives, talents, and ways of being to their families, schools, workplaces, and communities. They deserve to be understood, supported, and respected as they are, and to experience engaged belonging: being welcomed, valued, and able to participate fully as their authentic selves within relationships and communities.

At DFX, we are committed to cultivating environments and relationships that support this kind of belonging - where systems adapt, connection is prioritized, and every individual is met with dignity, curiosity, and care.

We are proud of our work to expand acceptance, foster meaningful inclusion, and advocate for systemic changes that support the well-being and full participation of neurodivergent people.

Celebrating differences. Cultivating engaged belonging.
Supporting systems that truly fit.

April is Occupational Therapy Month!

From the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), this year the focus is on enriching lives through meaningful engagement - a core philosophy of the profession.

At DFX, our OT team aims to help each individual we serve to feel enriched through engagement in their own personally meaningful ways - and to walk beside them on the path to engaged belonging.
