Creating Engaged Belonging and Celebrating Pride Month

Developmental FX’s mission is “to prepare children with developmental differences for a bright future of engaged belonging by equipping them, their families, therapists, and teachers via innovative programming in Colorado and around the world.”

…a bright future of engaged belonging. Our approach and philosophy are centered around this concept.

Engaged belonging means that at DFX the children we serve and their families are seen, heard, celebrated, and honored for exactly who they are. In addition to recognizing the developmental differences or neurodiversity that gives us the honor of meeting our clients, we strive to understand each child and their family as their full selves – their identities, their culture, their interests, their passions, their strengths, their challenges and their dreams.

Doing this allows us to create a treatment plan to meet each child's unique needs, aligns with their culture, and is sustainable in their environment–– Therapy that fits®. Beyond the clinic, we infuse the principles of engaged belonging in our education, training, and work in the community. Engaged belonging also means that at DFX, we believe in and advocate for spaces and systems where children can thrive as their full selves.

Given that pride is about recognizing the contributions of the LGBTQ+ people, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and culture, affirming belonging, and elevating ongoing advocacy for the rights of all Queer people, this month is a meaningful reminder of the importance of inclusion and engaged belonging for each of us and all of us.

Happy Pride from DFX!

Camp DFX is Back!

June 8th marked the first day of our 2026 camp season at DFX. Each of the five weeks provide a supportive, therapeutic experience for campers aged 5 to 11 who may need more individualized attention to be successful in a summer camp environment. DFX speech-language and occupational therapists tailor the activities each week according to the unique needs of those enrolled. Small groups of campers allow for a 1:2 therapist to child ratio.

Here's a glimpse of some crafting fun with one of our volunteers during Superhero Week!

Celebrating Pride

DFX deeply values creating inclusive, supportive, and affirming spaces for all. We believe every individual who visits our clinic deserves a space where they feel safe being exactly who they are, and that growth happens best when we are free to be our authentic selves.

Everyday, we celebrate the beautiful spectrum of identities within our community, staff, and the families we serve. Happy Pride Month!

Thank you for being part of the DFX family and helping us bring Therapy that fits® to more kids!
