Mission Moment

In December, Troop 5043 embraced the spirit of the season by volunteering at The Salvation Army Lewiston /Auburn and assembling 35 bags of toys and clothing donations for the community.

Each bag included essential items such as a coat, clothing, boots/shoes, and a selection of toys. Kudos to Troop 5043 for their generosity in giving back to their community!

Adult Learning

Girl Scouts thrives thanks to our volunteers' generosity. GSME's Adult Learning department connects with volunteers, nurturing their strengths.

For example, at Camp Adventures for Grownups, adults gather to try activities, enhance skills, and even earn certificationsโ€”all of which empower them to take their Girl Scouts out to try new things.

Help us celebrate our volunteers by nominating them for a GSME or GSUSA recognition.

Spotlight On...

Dawn Walker-Elders

Adult Learning Director

Dawn's Girl Scout journey began when "the Navy moved us 3,000 miles away from family and friends, I wanted to find a way for my children to have other trusted adults in their lives. I overheard some moms talking about Brownies, and I asked if my oldest could join. The troop leader said yesโ€”if I'd be the cookie mom."

A psychology graduate from UC Berkeley with an MSEd in elementary education from USC, Dawn taught kindergarten and 5th grade. She is certified to teach CPR/First Aid, Archery, Wilderness First Aid, Yoga, and more. She is also certified in Volunteer Administration and Talent Development.

What excites Dawn the most? GSME's Specialty Volunteer program. It allows adults to define their interests, time commitments, and geographical areasโ€”ideal for those who want flexibility beyond the typical troop leader role.
