Important Happenings at Worship on May 30
Worship is always a significant part of our life together as a congregation.
Last Sunday we observed two extra-special holy moments!

Baptism: At the 9:00 am Contemporary Service, we celebrated the baptism of Charles ("Chaz") Seavey Salisbury, son of Brian and Ashley (Blake) Salisbury (and baby brother of Melanie and Willa). We rejoice with the Salisbury family as they mark this important life event.
Confirmation: During the 10:00 am Liturgical Service, we were blessed to receive ten young people into membership through their confirmation vows.
Left to right: Kevin Beebee, Samuel Underwood, Kaelyn Hilton, Sydney Lafferty, Kavai Sieger, Pastor Paul Georgulis, Carly Sunderland, Ethan Luginbuhl, Austin Griffin, Maura Doughty, Erik Morehouse
Thank you to the over 544 people who worshiped with DUMC
in person and online on May 30, 2021.

This Week's Scripture: Jeremiah 1:5-10
“Before I created you in the womb I knew you;
    before you were born I set you apart;
    I made you a prophet to the nations.”
“Ah, Lord God,” I said, “I don’t know how to speak
    because I’m only a child.”
The Lord responded,
    “Don’t say, ‘I’m only a child.’
        Where I send you, you must go;
        what I tell you, you must say.
Don’t be afraid of them,
    because I’m with you to rescue you,”
        declares the Lord.
Then the Lord stretched out his hand,
    touched my mouth, and said to me,
    “I’m putting my words in your mouth.
This very day I appoint you over nations and empires,
    to dig up and pull down,
    to destroy and demolish,
    to build and plant.”

Would you like Blood Drives to continue?
DUMC is looking for one or two people to help with the Red Cross Blood Drives that we host. This plea will affect how often or if we continue to host the blood drives at DUMC. All tasks can be done from home, with a computer, in very little time (1-2 hours) during the month leading up to a blood drive. Easy to learn. Your commitment would be 1 or 2 times per year.

Mission of the Month: Methodist Services
Making a Difference
for Children and Families Since 1879
Heritage Moment: A Call to Serve
The work to serve others is a calling heard by many. Methodist Services has a rich 140-year history of engaging people from all walks of life who give time, talent and resources. You are a part of this generous history. We thank you.
Today, we recognize all those who have contributed to this tireless effort. Many continue to be members of the United Methodist Church community. Others are social workers, counselors and educators who have a passion for the work of caring for those in need; volunteers from the community at large (individuals and organizations) who lend a hand; board members who support the mission and vision of this ever-developing entity; donors of all gifts, large and small, who seek to change the trajectory of another person’s life; and an array of skilled professionals who sustain the campus as a vibrant space where people heal, live and learn.
Over the years, Doylestown United Methodist Church has given generously to Methodist Services. Your support has aided the rehabbing of a double room in our Bridge House Transitional Housing for homeless women, provided monthly food donations (via The Vine) for hundreds of formerly and currently homeless residents, contributed backpacks and school supplies for scores of children in our Head Start, PHL Pre-K, and Residential Programs, generously donated toys and personal care items for our children and families, and honored us as your Mission of the Month. Your support has truly been a blessing to Methodist Services.
March 2020 to June 2021: The pandemic certainly impacted our ministry. Through this period, Methodist Services was able to maintain all levels of support to our homeless women (ages 16-72), the families in our shelter, our 18-24 year-old population and our LGBTQ 18-24 year-old population. We were able to shift to virtual and hybrid learning and meetings. However, every resident in our programs still had to be physically and emotionally cared for with the same standards before, during, and after the pandemic. Methodist Services has continued our high standards for our clients with the end goal of success and self-sufficiency on the road to independence.

In 2020-21, Methodist Services will be celebrating all that we have done together, building upon the extraordinary vision put forth in 1878 by a gathering of women, called to serve, who organized and “moved in the matter with greatest care.” We could not do our work, without you! You help us make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
