Gratitude that leads to Generosity

A thankful heart leads to a giving heart. As we cultivate thankful hearts for God’s goodness, provision, and presence, generosity that impacts the world will flow naturally from our lives.

Exodus 35:4–9 (Common English Bible)

Moses said to the whole Israelite community, This is what the Lord has commanded: Collect gift offerings for the Lord from all of you. Whoever freely wants to give should bring the Lord’s gift offerings: gold, silver, and copper; blue, purple, and deep red yarns; fine linen; goats’ hair; rams’ skins dyed red; beaded leather; acacia wood; the oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet-smelling incense; gemstones; and gems for setting in the priest’s vest and in the priest’s chest pendant.
Join us this Sunday at 9:00 am in the Worship & Youth Center for FUSION, our Sunday morning youth worship service. Fusion is for all students in grades 7-12 and includes donuts, coffee, hot chocolate, juice, student-led worship, and a relevant message from God’s Word!
Last week...

The 9:00 am Contemporary Service was also treated to a beautiful collaboration of music between the Adult Bell Choir and Sounds of Faith. If you missed it, you can still enjoy from our Facebook page or our YouTube Channel!

Life Begins and Ends
We rejoice with
Pastor Paul and Elise Georgulis

on the birth of
Natasha Eve Georgulis

Natasha Eve was born on Tuesday, November 16 at 7:31 am. She weighs 8 lbs. 6 oz, and is 20.5 inches long. She is named after her big sister, Natalie, and Christmas. Her name means “born at Christmas,” or nativity, and is a derivative of Natalia. Eve was a fitting Christmas-y middle name, so her full name means Christmas Eve. All three of Pastor Paul and Elise’s children have Christmas story-themed names: Gabriel, Natalie, and Natasha.
Amechi J. Aduba

May 22, 1941 - November 12, 2021

Services will be held:
Saturday, November 20 at Doylestown UMC
Visitation: 10:00 am
Celebration of Life: 11:00 am

Please remember Karen, their children (Amechi, Ifeoma, and Nnamdi), grandchildren, and the rest of their family in your prayers.
God's Winter Garden
by Barbara Rocca, DUMC's "Master Gardener"
God's Garden of Eatin was alive and well this year. If you are a gardener, you know that each year has its challenges and its successes, and this year was no different. The ultimate success and blessing, however, is being able to bring fresh organic vegetables to local food pantries. This year the garden produced and delivered over 1000 pounds! Praise God!

As the garden season comes to a close, I always feel sad that this outreach is put on hold until spring. Then it occurred to me that it doesn't have to! We are so blessed to be able to go to the store and buy vegetables and fruit whenever we want to. Why not buy a little extra and bring it to church with you on Sunday mornings?

The kick off of "God's Winter Garden" will begin on Sunday, December 5. Just bring fresh vegetables and fruit to church, and we will deliver them to the local pantries. From there, we will ask you to donate the first Sunday of every month.

Thank you in advance for your support of this new outreach. If you would like to help with this please, contact Barbara Rocca ( or simply talk to me at church.
Lay Leader Insights: Lord, How Do I Pray?
By Laurie Lewis, RN, Minister of Visitation, Lay Leader
Do you get tongue-tied when praying? Unsure of what to say to God?
One of the techniques that can help is this acronym, "ACTS". These words can be a prayer outline to guide what you say. Just speak from your heart.

Adoration: Praise God for who he is and what he has done. This helps align your heart with his. Praise keeps your eyes fixed on God and reminds you of his glory. There is nothing he cannot do. I often start with creation or Jesus' time on earth.

Confession: Tell God you are sorry for where you have fallen short. Look over your day and where you could have done better. Ask forgiveness and for God to help you do better. Then let it go. A humble heart honors God.

Financial Report YTD October 31, 2021
Submitted by Barbara Miller, Finance Chairperson & Karen Sablyak, Treasurer
***We regret to report that DUMC continues to experience a monthly operating deficit (e.g., expenses exceed the income) before special giving as shown in the chart above in red. Overall, giving is down nearly $250K/year or $20K+/month compared to pre-COVID. While we have reduced expenses by more than 8%, many of DUMC’s expenses are fixed, so there continues to be a gap between income and expenses on a monthly basis. Additionally, we felt it was important to bring back the choir, bells and children’s programs this fall, despite the additional cost.

We continue to use operating cash reserves to cover deficits, but this is not a sustainable position for the church without a long-term solution. Various ideas are being discussed to address the cash flow, and we ask that you pray for the leadership’s guidance in this matter. It will be difficult to maintain these monthly deficits long-term, so we ask that you prayerfully consider continuing your monthly/weekly giving as we continue to work towards achieving positive monthly cash flow, so we can retain a consistent healthy cash balance.
FANTASTIC NEWS - Our membership continues to be strong with more than 400 people attending services on November 7, either in person or on-line. This is more than the pre-COVID attendance in 2019.

Thank you to our staff and the congregation for their continued support…but thank you most of all to our Heavenly Father…for he has provided for times such as these and hears our prayers!

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17

Our Gifts are Magnified

“My wife and I give because we believe we have a responsibility to respond to the grace that God has shown in our lives. We give because we believe that the church, the United Methodist Connection and other organizations accomplish greater good in the lives of people, animals and the environment than we could on our own. We give because we believe that giving is a spiritual gift.”
