Elevation
Sunday, January 15, 2023
6:00-7:30 pm
Join us this Sunday at Elevation as we continue our new teaching series that will focus on New Year's Resolutions and what they can mean for our spiritual growth. This New Year, what if you made resolutions you didn’t give up on by February? The goal of this series is to let the Bible shape your resolutions and rely on God to help you keep them. Imagine that: actually keeping your resolutions!
We will also be playing an interactive group game, eating food, watching our always hilarious Stupid Video of the Week, and having small group discussions.
Hope to see you there!

Lay Leader Insights: Roots
by Laurie Lewis, Lay Leader
|
Do you know the name of the giant tree with the most shallow roots? California redwoods! Topping out at 378 feet tall, and 20 feet or more in diameter, their root systems have a depth of only 6-12 feet--relatively shallow compared to their height.
I’ve come to realize that roots matter. They not only provide a tree with the nutrients it needs to survive, but also with the stability to withstand a storm. Strong winds may come, but a tree with deep roots will survive that storm. Redwoods defy that logic. The redwoods stay standing because their shallow roots intertwine with the roots of the other redwood trees. They are literally holding each other up. The trees grow in close proximity to each other, so they can share nutrients and physically support each other. Beneath the surface, their roots look like one massive system. Their roots provide strength, and their strength lies in their connection with each other.
