Summer Family Worship "Room to Move"
During the summer, we encourage families to worship together at each of our services. Our Sunday School volunteers and Nursery workers are taking a well-deserved break. In both the Sanctuary and Worship Center, we provide crayons, coloring books, and activity bags for children. There are also quiet worship spaces in both the back of the Sanctuary and the Upper Room (room in back of balcony in the Worship Center) where families can sit while children play.
Everyone is welcome at DUMC — especially during the summer!

Pancake Breakfast - Thank you!
The men served a delicious pancake & sausage breakfast, including Karen Lyon’s peach topping, to kick off the Peach Festival season.
Donations covered the cost of the food with a surplus of $135 toward the church fund. Thank you to Jayne Jacobus for getting the first batch of silent auction baskets labeled and ready for display. There will be more to come. Special thanks to the Haring Brothers for giving us a reduced price for the sausage.
Best Regards,
Randy

Financial Report for the Six Months Ended June 30, 2025
Submitted by: Allen Mason (Finance Chairperson) and Karen Sablyak (Treasurer)
| | |
Income: Income for June was a very disappointing $44K, the lowest month of the year. YTD, we are behind budget by $181K. Please continue your regular giving as we endure low giving during the summer/vacation months. Thank you!
Disbursements: June disbursements are slightly less than prior months; we continue to pay for both Realm & Subsplash monthly while we complete the transition, which is an extra $500/mo. However, our disbursements YTD are still nearly $10K less than budget since staffing costs & trustee expenses have remained under budget – REJOICE!
Net Cash (Deficit): We had negative cash flow in June of ($43K) and ($160K) YTD.
There are many on-going activities at DUMC. We remain committed to our programs and the generosity of our members to cover our deficits and remain faithful to God’s mission for DUMC. AMEN!
“God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.” - Psalm 48:14

Pastor's Corner:
CHRISTIAN SENSITIVITY
What does it mean to be sensitive to other people? I mean, how do we sense what another person is feeling about their environment and respond to it positively, as a follower of Christ? Jesus told us to “love our neighbor as ourselves” (Mark 12:31). Obviously, this means more than just being tolerant of those around us. Could it mean that, after we know who we really are (failings and all!) and learn to love ourselves the way God loves us, we then learn to love others with the same 1 John 3:18 love—a love that feels and acts with the sensitivity that God has for us? (1 John 3:18 says: “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”)

Lay Leader Insights:
THANKFULNESS
Having an attitude of gratitude helps open our eyes to God's wonders all around us. When we start the day thanking God, this practice changes what we see. Sound too simple?
We are often planning our days before we open our eyes. Sometimes, we dream about our concerns. Yes, there can be much that pulls on our attention.

DUMC Community Dinner
Thank you!
This past Wednesday’s Community Dinner was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who supplied food and helped setup, serve, and cleanup.
A special thank-you to Jim Dodaro, John Vavala, and Craig Wurst for cooking all of the chicken we had donated by Whole Foods. They spent about 3 hours in the kitchen turning the raw chicken into delicious delicacies.
We also had some of our fabulous youth pitching in with setup, serving, cleanup, and packing of Caring for Friends meals.
We had around 85 people attend the meal, including several from the community and from groups we host at the church.
We had enough chicken and corn left over that we were able to pack 45 meals for Caring for Friends.
Our next Community Dinner will be on Wednesday, August 27 at 6:00 pm. We are planning a Mexican fiesta. I am looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with for that! There is a signup sheet in the lobby. You can also look for a SignUpGenius in the coming weeks. I am looking forward to seeing you all again next month.
Best,
Cindy

Volunteer Opportunity - Urban Ponics
UrbanPonics.org is a nonprofit that educates and promotes growing vegetables indoors. The vision is to help people eat healthier, be more independent, and understand where their food comes from. They have two systems: a vertical system that circulates water and nutrients, and a horizontal system linked to a fish tank so that the fish waste feeds the plants. They are a pretty small start-up that needs help both short term and ongoing.
The short-term need is supporting their booth for the annual Wrightstown Grange Fair at Newtown, Wednesday, August 13 - Sunday, August 17. They need help setting up and manning the booth to get people excited about the future of indoor growing! If you are willing to help with this, email Susan Limongelli.
The more general opportunity is to help plant, prune, and harvest at their UPstairs Farm located in Warminster. They would love to have someone volunteer even for a couple hours per week. For more information, visit UrbanPonics.org, call Webb Stone (215) 872-9052, or ask Randy Hume about it.
Go do something! Volunteer!
