Giving Tuesday
Tuesday, December 3
Enhancing our future through our Youth and Children's Programs
Giving Tuesday is a special day designated to remind everyone to stop and appreciate and give thanks during this holiday season. While you may direct your gift to any area at Doylestown United Methodist Church that interests you, we are asking everyone to help support our Youth and Children’s programs to help strengthen the future of our church community.
I hope you will join me in making a special gift to support these essential programs for our young church members.
Click to give on REALM or VENMO.
Thank you in advance for making a vital difference in the future of our church.

Pastor's Corner
"Advent" according to an online dictionary is “the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event.” Did you know that Advent is also a season in the Church (just like Lent) that begins four Sundays before Christmas, and is also the beginning of what is called the “Church Year”? It is a season that the Church prepares people in those 3+ weeks for “the arrival of a notable Person” – the event of the birth of the promised Messiah at Christmas.

Lay Leader Insights:
GARDENING IN AUTUMN
Autumn is a time for cleaning out the garden. The first frost has come and the growing season is over. Pulling the vegetable plants and covering the garden with leaves helps the soil rest and provides sanctuary for animals over the winter. Annuals are weeded out. Our perennials need to be pruned to ensure robust blooms and a healthy plant next year.

December Mission of the Month:
BCICRR - Bucks County Interfaith Coalition for Refugee Resettlement
| | |
WHO WE ARE
Bucks County Interfaith Coalition for Refugee Resettlement (BCICRR) was founded in 2016 as an all-volunteer group working together to support two Syrian families. The coalition is made up of Christians, Jews, Muslims, and others who have come together to provide friendship, practical assistance, and financial support for these families. Along the way, we have become an extended family, supporting, and learning from one another. In 2022 BCICRR welcomed a family of 6 Afghan refugees. All three families are thriving in their new communities here in Bucks County.
*BCICRR Certified as Sponsor for New Family
This year, we became an official Welcome Circle through the US State Department Welcome Corp
Help a New Family
We are excited to announce that we have taken action to help a family in need! The wife and mother, who worked for the U.S government in Afghanistan, is eligible for a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) to immigrate to the United States with her husband and two small children. As they prepare for the arrival of their new baby in November, we are rallying the community to help provide a comfortable home for them. You can make a difference by signing up to provide Home Supplies or donating money for the purchase of furniture chosen by the family themselves. Let's unite as a community and make a positive impact! Thank you, DUMC, for your generous support!

DUMC will once again partner with Wrapping Presence to bring the joy of the holidays to Liberty Pointe nursing/rehabilitation facility in Doylestown.

All-Church Study
"Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations"
by Robert Schnase
Join us for our upcoming All-Church Study in January 2025.
If you are looking for a deeper sense of purpose both in your own life and in our faith community here at DUMC, this study is for you! We invite you to join this five-week journey based on Robert Schnase’s book, Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations. Together, we will explore practices that help us become a more vibrant, effective church while also deepening our personal faith.
Throughout this study, we will dive into the following key topics:
- Radical Hospitality – How can we embrace the kind of genuine, welcoming love that Jesus calls us to? Learn what it means to go beyond simple friendliness to truly welcome others into the life of the church.
- Passionate Worship – Discover how worship can become a life-giving, transformational experience that helps us encounter God in meaningful ways every time we gather.
- Intentional Faith Development – Explore how we can cultivate spiritual growth by creating environments where learning and discipleship are central to our lives as followers of Jesus.
- Risk-Taking Mission and Service – Consider what it looks like to boldly serve others, stepping outside our comfort zones to meet the needs of our neighbors both near and far.
- Extravagant Generosity – Reflect on the biblical call to give generously and joyfully, supporting the work of the church and sharing God’s love with a world in need.
Each week, our pastors will introduce one of these practices during the sermon, and small groups will meet to explore it in greater depth. Whether you're already part of a small group or looking to join one for this study, we encourage you to participate in this church-wide journey as it is a great opportunity to connect with others, grow in your faith, and make a meaningful impact in our congregation and world.
Mark your calendar! The study will kick off with the sermon on Sunday, January 5 and will conclude the week of Sunday, February 2. Let’s start the new year with hearts and minds focused on becoming a more fruitful congregation together!
Sign up for a small group and take part in this meaningful journey. We look forward to seeing you!
For questions, to sign up, or for anything related to small groups or the all-church study, feel free to reach out to Pastor Paul.
