APPLE SEEDS: A MEDITATION

There is a short parable that goes like this:

One day, a woman noticed a new stall in the local market. God was in the stall.

"What do you sell here?" she asked.

God replied, "All your heart desires."

The woman was astounded. "Wow! I'll have peace, joy, and a nice house—not just for me, but for everyone and…"

God interrupted, "I think you've misunderstood. I don't sell fruit here—only seeds."

January Mission of the Month:

PASTORS' DISCRETIONARY FUND

The January Mission of the Month is the Pastors' Discretionary Fund (PDF). This allows our ministers to easily help people with various needs without individual approvals and red tape. This assistance can range from a small grocery store gift card to a hotel room for a night or help paying a utility bill during a difficult season. Currently, Pastor Paul is the primary steward of this money. Pastor Paul said there was an increase in requests while the government was shut down and SNAP payments were stopped. Please give generously to replenish this fund and provide for future needs.

DUMC Community Dinner - Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who provided food, set up, served, and cleaned up at December's New Years Eve Community Dinner.

A special shout out to Jim, Jeff, Craig, John, and Jeff for coming early, setting up the coffee station, and doing all of the cooking and heating up.

Thank you also to Mike for setting up all of the tables and chairs every month and for setting up our new food warming mats.

We had a wonderful evening which included our own countdown and New Years Eve ball drop. (Balloon toss)

We had around 70 people in attendance. Over 50 leftover trays were made and 61 Caring for Friends meals packed.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the January Community Dinner on Wednesday, January 28. The theme will be Italian night.

Happy New Year to all,

Cindy

We will also review the 2026 outreach calendar and invite conversation around how we can improve communication, collaboration, and engagement across our ministries.

Whether you are already involved in outreach or are simply curious about how to get connected, we would love for you to join us.
