Family Worship "Room to Move"

During the summer, we encourage families to worship together at each of our services. Our Sunday School volunteers and Nursery workers are taking a well-deserved break. In both the Sanctuary and Worship Center, we provide crayons, coloring books, and activity bags for children. There are also quiet worship spaces in both the back of the Sanctuary and the Upper Room (room in back of balcony in the Worship Center) where families can sit while children play.

Everyone is welcome at DUMC especially during the summer!

DUMC Community Potluck Dinners

Wednesday, June 25, 6:00 pm

(Last Wednesday of each month)

DUMC will be hosting Community Potluck Dinners on the last Wednesday of every month from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, beginning on June 25. This will be a similar format to the Lenten Soup Suppers. However, the meal and theme will change monthly.

A SignUpGenius will be sent out prior to each meal, detailing what the meal is and what food will be needed. There will also be a signup sheet in the lobby. If you can contribute in any way, please sign up for June HERE.

Our first meal will be a patriotic summer BBQ consisting of hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, baked beans.......and DESSERT!

If you have any questions or want to be on the planning committee, please reach out to Cindy Biehl.

We are looking forward to a fun event full of food and fellowship.

Hope to see you there!

Lay Leader Insights:

FEAR CAUSES FORGETFULNESS

When life is going well and things are falling into place, we can become complacent in our faith. We attend church, even say our prayers, and begin to believe nothing bad can happen.

Then life sends a speed bump our way. An illness disrupts. Job pressures increase. A disagreement occurs with a friend. Suddenly, we feel unsure, and fear begins to creep in. Does God see this? Did this happen because we’ve sinned? Can we trust God in the dark seasons?

June Mission of the Month:

IMMIGRANT RIGHTS ACTION

Think of how frightened someone must be to leave their home. They pack a few belongings for the arduous journey, often with children in tow, hoping a relative will take them in. A long journey begins from Afghanistan, Ukraine, or Central or South America, often involving many stops in unfamiliar areas.

These are the exiles of today—people forced from their homes by war, famine, unstable governments, and the hope for a better life. We are called by Jesus to welcome the stranger and give aid to those in need—without judgment, just as He did. This is not a border issue or a political stance—it’s about helping those in need.

Summer Hospitality

During the summer months, we will continue to have coffee and tea available each Sunday, as well as cool refreshments. This is a more relaxed time of year and any time that you can donate to this ministry, it is certainly appreciated! This is a very rewarding ministry and not at all difficult. We’re happy to train you! See our SignUpGenius or contact Cindy Betancourt in the church office.

Flower Basket Waterers Needed

Do you have a green thumb? Do you enjoy the outdoors? We invite you to volunteer at DUMC!

We are in need of more volunteers to help water the flower baskets and urns around the church. We use SignUpGenius to organize the schedule as the flowers need to be watered every day. Each volunteer can pick the dates that work best for them between mid-May and mid-September. If you are interested, sign up here or contact Sheri Shifman. Thank you!
