Congregational Covenant Meeting
Saturday, June 7
10:00 am
Worship Center
The last United Methodist General Conference changed the Book of Discipline’s (and the Social Principles) language with regard to homosexuality. All references to homosexuality have been removed. How does that affect us as a local church in our identity, mission, and ministry? In order to know this, all members and worshipers of Doylestown UMC are invited to participate in two conversations that will eventually lead to the forming of a covenant document that answers the question: How will we live out our church life in our relationships with the LGBTQ+ community? The two conversations are different, with the first leading into the second. So please plan to come for both. Rev. Gina Yeske (GNJ Conference) and Rev. Lloyd Speer (EPA Conference) will facilitate the conversations. Conversation # 1: Tuesday, May 6 at 7:00 pm; Conversation # 2: Saturday, June 7 at 10:00 am. Children's Musical - Thank you!
Congratulations to our Carol and Chapel choirs on their remarkable performance of “Oh, Jonah!”. Your hard work and dedication shined, and everyone is immensely proud of you! Thank you!
*I would like to give Joe Giernacky a special "Thank You" for the wonderful job he did on our whale in the Spring Musical, "Oh, Jonah!". He came several times to practice and helped us figure out the logistics. His attitude was very professional, and his performance added so much to the production!
Thank you, Joe!

Youth End-Of-Year Cookout - Thank you!
We had a great time at the End-Of-Year Cookout (more of a “cook in”) this year! We had 32 young people, and 5 adults enjoy a great night of fellowship as we celebrated the youth ministry year together! Our young people have grown so much in this school year, and the youth team can't wait to see how God continues to work in and through them in the years to come!

Lay Leader Insights:
GOD IS OUR COMFORTER
I read a story on social media that said the following:
“This is your gentle reminder of that time in the Bible where Elijah said, "God, I'm so mad! I want to die!" Then God said, "Here's some food and water. How about a nice nap?" So, Elijah ate, slept, and decided life wasn't so bad after all. Never underestimate the spiritual power of a snack and a nap!”

May Mission of the Month:
FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN
| | |
Feed My Starving Children (FMSC.org) meal packing event is coming to Delaware Valley University again this year to feed starving children around the world.
DUMC has a reserved time slot: Sunday, June 8, 12:00 - 2:00 pm. We have to sign up and fill the slots by Monday, May 12, or any empty slots will be open to the public. Feel free to invite friends to come with us! If you regularly attend the 11:11 service and want to do the food pack, please consider attending one of the other services for that Sunday. To attend with DUMC, please sign up here.
Come have fun while packing nutritious meals of rice, soy, veggies, and vitamins to be donated to mission partners called to feed God’s starving children, hungry in body and spirit. This year is extra special as we’ll celebrate providing the 8 millionth meal since it all began in 2013. Almost 22,000 children have received one meal every day for an entire year, thanks to the greater Doylestown community.
How can you help?
Pray: for good weather and lots of community support for this local mission project.
Volunteer: to pack meals with DUMC Sunday, June 8 or individually Thursday, June 5 – Monday, June 9 at the Delaware Valley University Multi Purpose Room (700 Butler Avenue, Doylestown, PA). Public volunteer registration will open in early May.
Donate to the May Mission of the Month: Each meal costs only 29¢, and provides a filling and nutritious meal for a starving child overseas. The plan is to pack 1 million meals, so they need to raise $290,000 dollars to fund this one event. Your prayers and generous donations of time and talents are greatly appreciated!
