Help Make Online Worship More Engaging at Doylestown UMC
Did you know our online worship attendance often exceeds our in-person services? Each week, people from near and far tune in to our livestreamed services, but it can be hard for them to feel truly connected without a visible, welcoming community.

Trunk or Treat - Thank you!
Our Trunk or Treat was a huge success! We had over 200 participants join us for an afternoon of fun. A big thank you to the 29 trunks that took part. Each one was uniquely decorated and brought so much joy to the children and families who attended. A HUGE shout out to Diana Giernacky for making sure our pumpkin patch was full. We’re so grateful for everyone who helped make this event possible through volunteering, or simply showing up to share in the fun. It was a wonderful reminder of how our community comes together to celebrate and connect.
Congratulations to Joe Giernacky for winning the awesome slime kit!

Pastor's Corner:
GO MAKE DISCIPLES: WALKING CLOSELY, REACHING BOLDLY
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20
Those were Jesus’ parting words to the disciples: it was not a suggestion—it was a commission: “Go and make disciples.” The disciples are told not just to make converts. Even the word “convert” can be misleading because while we think it means helping someone change their beliefs toward Jesus, too often it becomes about getting others to think or believe the same as us. Jesus really wants us to invite others into a faith journey that we ourselves are participating in. That’s what disciple-making is all about. Yet the journey of disciple-making begins not with activity, but with intimacy.

Lay Leader Insights:
QUESTIONS
If you have ever worked with children, you know they never run out of questions, such as: “What is this?” “Why did that happen?” “When will this be over?” Adults know that children might not be ready or able to hear the answers, so they answer the ones they can and tuck the others away for another day.
Our Heavenly Father hears all our questions as well, but he doesn't always answer them in the time or way we want. Sometimes God answers and we are not listening. He calls on us to trust him and not to fear.

SNAP Benefits Assistance
If you or someone you know is on SNAP, please give them the information below. SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, formerly food stamps) will be frozen as of Saturday, November 1 due to the government shutdown. Doylestown Area FISH offers food assistance to their callers. There are about 40,000+ (6.3%) people in Bucks County who receive SNAP benefits. Given all of this, Doylestown Area FISH has pulled $10,000 from their endowment to purchase grocery gift cards to give to Bucks County residents who are in need. Starting Monday morning, November 3, Bucks County residents can go to the HUB (in the County Administrative building) or set up an appointment with the HELP Center (215) 949-1660 to receive cards. If individuals are unable to get to the HUB during business hours, they can call Doylestown Area FISH at (215) 348-7172 and they will determine ways to get them assistance.
For those able to help, donations can be made through Doylestown Area FISH website, via PayPal, or mailed to Doylestown Area FISH, P.O. Box#196, Doylestown, PA 18901.

Harvest Home Sunday 2025
Sunday, November 16
Harvest time was important throughout Pennsylvania in the 19th and 20th Centuries and Harvest Home services were a regular part of the church calendar. These services were an expression of gratitude to God after months of hard work planting and cultivating the fertile soils. Written accounts from Lutheran and Reformed congregations describe harvest services as early as the 1830's (Forrest Moyer, 2019).
We will celebrate Harvest Home Sunday on November 16 this year. Your generous food donations will be split between 3 local food banks: Jesus Focus Ministry Food Pantry at Bethanna, Bucks County Housing Group Doylestown, and New Britain Food Pantry.
Suggested foods include:
-Fresh Produce: Apples, carrots, celery, cranberries, onions, potatoes, squash, and sweet potatoes.
-Nonperishables: Boxed cornbread mix, boxed pie crust mix, cake mix/frosting, canned corn, canned green beans, canned pumpkin, canned pumpkin pie filling, canned broth, canned yams, canned cranberry sauce, gravy, boxed potato flakes, and boxed stuffing mix.
Kindly leave your food offerings on the table in the lobby.
Many thanks from the Missions Committee

DUMC Community Dinner - Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who provided food and beverages for the October meal. Thank you to Jim and Reign for coming early and cooking up all of the eggs, sausage, french toast sticks, and potatoes. Thanks to everyone who came to make coffee, set up, serve, and clean up. It takes a lot of hands to make this meal work. DUMC's incredible generosity has made this mission a success.
We reached many more food insecure community members this month. The word is spreading!
Next month's meal will be on Wednesday, November 26 and is a Thanksgiving Feast. Look for the signup sheet in the lobby and the SignUpGenius in Connections.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Cindy Biehl.
Blessings,
Cindy

Wrapping Presence
DUMC has been a wonderful supporter of the Wrapping Presence mission for many years. This organization is run by Doylestown Presbyterian Church. DUMC has partnered with DPC in the past few years to provide holiday cheer to Liberty Pointe Nursing and Rehab Center. Unfortunately, DPC has decided to discontinue this mission due to a lack of staffing. Thank you all for your past support of Wrapping Prescence.
