We are grateful to the Texas Cavaliers Charitable Foundation, who generously donated $50,000 towards The Rise Recovery Charlie Naylor Campus opening in 2021. We are thankful to the Texas Cavaliers mission of supporting San Antonio youth and to all of our supporters who made a vision be realized, a campus which will strengthen thousands in our community who are achieving recovery from substances. Recovery Uncovered: A Podcast of Hope
About five months ago, at the onset of COVID, our staff at Rise quickly adjusted and created innovative virtual avenues to continue providing ongoing recovery support, education and social activities to those in need. Bea Blackmon and Dawnya Janousek joined forces and created a new podcast, Recovery Uncovered, featuring guests who share their struggles with addiction to their path towards recovery. Bea and Dawnya continue to share hope, strength and lessons learned with you in this recovery education podcast. Please subscribe and share Recovery Uncovered and other videos we provide:
Campus Culture: Shifting the Substance Misuse Stereotype
At Rise Recovery, education is key to shifting the mindset of youth substance use as a rite of passage well before graduating from high school. Providing prevention services on campus to those already struggling with substance use issues is also imperative. We go to them. Currently, we provide our services to: Boerne ISD, Alamo Heights ISD, Excel Academy, South San ISD DAEP, South San Care Zone, Harlendale ISD, and Rise Recovery's Learning-in-Recovery pilot program in partnership with the Anne Frank Inspire Academy, with more to be added in the near future. We go to them, so that they know they are not alone and recovery is possible, even at school. We are currently visiting in person to five of the districts with social distance measures in place. Here is a recent article on shifting the mindset of substance use on college campuses, published by Julia Sufrin | Sep 28, 2020 | BlogCOVID-19Hogg BlogPodcast:
Go Spurs Go! Go Bexar County Go!
Mental Wellness Champions for Our Community
Providing our youth with mental wellness support in their environment, at school, can change one life, an entire family, and even our community. We are thankful for our partner agencies and this shared mission of the San Antonio Mobile Mental Wellness Collaborative, to remove mental health stigmas and provide a safe environment to receive mental health support. We are so thankful to Spurs Give and Bexar County for their very generous gift to expand this collaborative so that we can reach even more San Antonio school districts and transform lives!
