We have had a wonderful, blessed start of school. I would like to thank all of the faculty and staff who prepared for our welcome meetings for the parents. Each grade level parent meeting was well attended and had a great deal of pertinent information. We are particularly grateful to each parent that pledged to the Annual Fund at the meetings! Our percent pledge rate by class was fantastic! Thank you!
On the news from the school front, we have some staff change announcements to make.
First, as you know, Mr. Olsyk was able to return to his alma mater as a teacher and is currently moving back to Oregon. We are happy to announce that Mrs. Leslee will be coordinating the sophomore retreat and teaching the freshman and sophomore religion courses. We have a new staff member, Mrs. Perez, to coordinate the senior retreat and teach the senior religion courses. Mrs. Perez has a BA in Child Development from Mount St. Mary's College, Los Angeles, an MA in Counseling and Psychology from Trinity College of Graduate Studies, Anaheim, CA and an MA in Pastoral Theology from LMU. Her resume includes work as a Catholic school teacher, a faith formation coordinator, an adjunct professor and a school counselor. Please welcome her next week!
Also, we would also like to let you know that due to health reasons, Miss Eser has decided to tailor back and move to more classroom responsibilities. At the end of September, she will no longer be the Director of Student Activities, and Ms. Ernest will take over her duties. We have greatly appreciated all her hard work and know that she will be missed, but she will keep the yearbook, and NHS responsibilities and have two Latin Classes! More on this front will change in the 2nd semester! Mrs. Sienkowski will begin as the Assistant Director of Student Activities and work with Ms. Ernest. Also, as Dr. Rauterkus assumes her role as Assistant Head of School, Miss Eser will take a social studies class. We will be advertising soon for a social studies teacher to fill out the courses, as well.
Next week, look for a facility project update!
Blessings,
Cheri L. Wood
Head of School
