Science Fair
science fair student
The Connelly School Science Fair is scheduled to begin Monday, January 29. It is open to all grade levels, and required for all Honors Biology and Honors Chemistry students. Winners will move on to the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair at the OC Fairgrounds on March 14. Our fair will take place in the Biology lab (room 10), right here on campus. Everyone is invited to view the projects starting Tuesday-Friday, February 6-9.
Science Fair Timeline:
Monday, January 29   - Students bring their projects to Room 10 between 7:45 a.m. and 8:05 a.m. for set-up.  At this time, they will also sign up for a judging time on Tuesday, January 30 ( a 2E day ).
Tuesday, January 30   - Judging Day - outside judges (scientists and engineers from our community) as well as Connelly science and math teachers will comprise our official judging team. The judges will interview all of the students submitting projects. After all judging is complete, winners will be determined. Teachers will evaluate each of their students' projects.
Monday, February 5   - winners will be announced at Monday assembly.
Galaxy of Stars Planning Meeting
Please join in the fun, and help with the "Galaxy of Stars Dinner & Auction." Our next meeting is Tuesday, January 30, at 6:30 p.m.

We have some exciting plans... new ideas for live and silent auctions and the opportunity drawing. We still need to fill some key positions on the planning team. If you have artistic skills, we need help with decorations and basket assembling/wrapping. If you are a great wordsmith, we need help writing descriptions for the auction items. We will also need help the day of the event with transporting items to the venue. So far, we have only had a few volunteers and we need more help!

We are counting on help from the Connelly community to fill up our silent auction baskets. If you have some items that you would like to make or donate, please label the items "Galaxy" and drop them off in the office. We are accepting all donations! We need donations by early January so we can start assembling the baskets and advertising on the website. To date, we have not seen any donations come into the office except those items donated by a few volunteers on the committee. We need to start receiving donations as soon as possible.

Some ideas for helping with the Galaxy of Stars donations: email friends and family and see if they would like to donate; ask local businesses that you frequent if they would like to support Connelly (we have donation request letters for this).

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Showalter, Galaxy of Stars co-chair.
