Newsletter and Schedule of Events

  back-school-bus.jpg

Our mission at the Connie Hudson Senior Center is to provide the highest quality of recreational, educational, health, and wellness programs for individuals 55 and older.

Welcome to the August 2015 newsletter. It's hard to believe summer is almost over but I am pretty sure most of you will be glad to see those yellow school buses back in-route. I know we will be glad to see you return to the center. Be sure to stay up-to-date with schedule changes on our Like us on Facebook page.  Don't forget that your input is always welcome on Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. for "Coffee with the Director" to ask questions, to make suggestions, or to just chat . Remember to stay hydrated while participating in any of our fitness classes.  Also, in the month of August we are excited to display the hard work and creativity of our current art students from our classes at the center. This will be our second year to show our members and guests what varying abilities, mediums, textures, and styles that fill and explode through the splendid and creative minds of our seniors. Please take the time to look at the displays and enjoy their hard work when you come to visit the center.
This an example of what you might see:

July 2015 Highlights

Recap of July
CHMRSCC celebrates with Red, White, and Blue
in honor of Independence Day.

Lunch with the Mayor
Intern, Ashley Snow, had lunch with the Mayor.  Ashley was an advocate for Seniors everywhere.  Mayor Stimpson asked each intern if they were Mayor for a day what would they do.  Ashley would have a special Senior Day to bring Senior Programs and Senior Centers together to inform about all programs and centers.

ROAD MAP TO AGING GRACEFULLY
Over 50 seniors came out to hear about home care, insurance, financial planning, identify theft, tax education, and real estate.  Thanks to QUALITY CAREGIVERS for sponsoring this event.

Single Mingle Dinner
Participants enjoyed a sit-down dinner for our monthly single mingle dinner.

Giving the

Gift of Experience

On August 25, 2015, the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) will celebrate 35 years of service to Mobile County. FGP volunteers will be honored with a breakfast for their outstanding service to the Mobile area. The event will take place at the Connie Hudson Mobile Regional Senior Community Center.

Every day in communities across America, Foster Grandparents serve children in need who depend on them for love, wisdom, and support. Eighty Foster Grandparents in Mobile County impact 45 community partners, including the Mobile County Public School System, Head Start, USA Children's and Women's Hospital, Boys & Girls Club of South Alabama and other agencies. Foster Grandparents help to even the odds for children who have special needs.
