New Families in Nature Explore Packs available at Avalon Library allow kids to learn about their natural surroundings through exploration. Catalina Island Conservancy, thanks to support from Los Angeles County Fourth District Supervisor Janice Hahn, was able to create these free resources available for checkout immediately.

The Explore Pack backpacks contain activities that can be done outside in nature or inside your home, with materials in both English and Spanish to make it easy for everyone to participate. Families checking out a backpack can choose from five themes: Birds, Seashore, Nearby Nature, Plants, and Bugs & Friends.

The Explore Packs also further the Conservancy’s mission of conservation, education and recreation by encouraging Catalina’s youth to learn about their surrounding environment through interactive activities, inspiring new conservationists.
